I have a Hill MK4 pump that I use on my PCPs. One will fill to about 3200 the other 3300 on a 3000psi fill according to the Hill pump gauge. Replaced my disco gauge that was in the red on a 2000psi fill with a Prod gauge with the Prod gauge port and that one now says 2100 on a 2000psi fill. Tuning a fellow members rifle on a 3000psi fill it says 3500...needless to say I don't want to be actually overfilling the rifle that much. Just wanna know how accurate the hill pumps gauges are for safety reasons.

I don't know about the Hill gauge but my Mrod gauge reads 200-250psi more than my Benji gauge and CF tank.

Between my pcp rifles and 3 hand pumps, their gauges all read differently. I was never sure which one to trust. I finally assembled a high pressure Tee with a quality fluid filled gauge, and it goes between the pump and rifle. I can take it off and calibrate against a known good pressure transducer (at work).

I had the same problem with my Hill Pump gauge until it finally was off by more than 500 psi. I temporarily replaced it with a small gauge, but plan to use one of Joe B's much larger and very accurate WIKA gauges.

Thanks for the reply guys. Tuning the rifle I'm going to assume that with an SSG that it would have some serious valve lock at 3500psi and it was chucking 15.89 jsbs at 1070fps with very little preload on the spring so I'm thinking it's just the guns gauge.

I ordered some Dwyer gauges to replace the stock gauges on the Marauders.
Jays reads one way and mine reads another off the same Hill pump.
I went with the 5000 PSI version Dwyer.

Pumped my 2x 1701Ps and 1720T (unmodded) to ~3100 indicated, with a Hill MkIV which reads ~3000, because I heard the Crosman gauges were off a coupla hunderd psi high and wanted to be closer to the 2800/2900 psi recommended for them. Well, they shoot low, like they're over-charged for the first few shots!?!? When they are reading ~2900psi, they start shooting right!
