My review of the RAI 1377 Stock Adapter

(1/2) > >>

Gipper:
I met Dave and his wife Monica last weekend at the GTA fun shoot and nicer people you will never meet. Dave is very passionate about air guns and the products he produces, and it shows in the quality of his parts.  I am a carbine freak and like a lot of other air gunners I started out with Crosman guns. I have many customized 2240’s and 1377’s in my arsenal and not a single one of them is stock or even a pistol anymore!  Many of them have gone through different configurations over time and I never seem to get tired of tinkering with them.

The Crosman shoulder stock is a great piece but is definitely designed to use the open sights these guns come with.  Add any type of optics and you quickly realize the shortcomings of the Crosman piece.  Look at any Crosman-centric forum and you will see a thousand different ways people have customized the Crosman stock to work with a scope….some good and some not so good!! Length of pull on the factory stock happens to fit me fine but it tends to be a bit short for anyone over 5’8” (my height).

I have used the Tippman style adapters as well but quality and fit varies and I never found one that provided a solid mount without additional modification which means additional holes in my pressure tube. Not the makers fault really as there is only so far the adapter can slide into the tube without interfering with the hammer.  They also tend to provide a very high cheek weld and either they will fit you or they won’t.  Stock choices are limited to Tippman for the most part and quality here also varies widely.

The R.A.I. adapter I picked up for my 1377 is actually 3 pieces that provides a rock solid mount and lots of adjustability.   The first piece replaces the stock end cap as you would expect and mounts with the rear breech and trigger frame screws. It is threaded on the inside, has a power adjuster and has external threads about an inch long that extend out the back of the tube.  The second part of the adapter screws over this and provides a very strong mount as it snugs up against the back of the pressure tube eliminating all possible movement.  Lastly a large cap screw is used to attach the 3rd piece of the mount.  A slot is machined into this piece and provides about an inch of vertical travel. The piece can also be rotated to provide offset if so desired.  Now just attach any AR style stock that uses a buffer tube, tighten up the castle nut at the desired cant and you are ready to go, it just does not get any better than this. I now have a 1377 that I can shoulder with my eyes closed and have perfect alignment every time without having to contort my neck.  Another benefit is that the adapter is so strong that I can pump the gun while holding it by the adapter providing extra leverage for easier pumping. And all of it is MADE IN THE USA!

So what do I really think of this adapter?  Whats not to like?
1. It is beautifully made.
2. It is beautifully finished
3. It functions perfect.

I already have a second one for a disco build and am picking up another one for a new PROD that showed up today.  Guess you could say I like it.

Dave makes good stuff. His Teryx chassis makes the Armada look like a toy gun.

I agree!  I am trying to convince my buddy he needs one for his Gen II.
