Love My Diana 34, BUT.......

Had my Diana 34 about 3 months now that I purchased from P.A.. Love the way it shoots and super accurate clearly German quality stock and exterior finish, however... Finally had to disassemble (voids warranty) do to rough cocking cycle from beginning and took a look to tune-up inside. Way disappointing with lack off lube and severe galling of inside top of cylinder where the back of the piston rides.
Also to my disbelief was sharp edges at all hole and slot locations. Pulled piston and yeah of course seal lip was damaged from assembly do to sharp edges at long slot. No way does this look like a quality assembly job.
I will openly complain to Uramax/Diana about this and lack of lube from the start. It seems to me the inside assembly is not built with the same high quality standards as the exterior. (I would suspect the inside is assembled somewhere else IMO). These high quality rifles should not be shipped dry like this causing obvious damage from the onset. I feel I can say this cause when you spend hard earned money on these good shooting guns, a little lube included cannot be to much to ask. I know we talk 'Tune-Ups", but isn't this just that we are re-doing what should already be done for good money?
De-burring and Lube during Assembly? Enough said but trying to raise the bar just a bit more. I'll even pay $25.00 more at time of purchase if I have to. Sorry long winded but bring the Lube Please!!
Anyway, I smoothed out the galling, de-burred, and lubed back part of piston and mainspring and now much smoother shooting and way quiet during cocking cycle as this gun should already be. Love these guns and will continue to buy and shoot them.

Well just from my knowledge of Diana's, they almost always come fairly dry and can use a good lube tune. I know people have cited this dryness as the reason their guns shoot slower then they should out of the box but a lube tune can and generally will increase those numbers. This is a pretty common complaint when it comes to Diana's so you are not alone.

Yes very common. I shoot my 34 a couple tins then tuned it. I also found a torn seal. I plan on lube tuning my new 34 pro first. Of course after a few test shoots.

The first thing I do with a new gun is strip it down and lube it properly and with the proper amount. Paying more for a rifle doesn't mean it will have the proper amount of lube. Weirauch has enough lube for 2or 3 guns. Even AA has a bit too much.

mark611 is correct as I lubed mine and had to delube it cause lube was getting into compression chamber.
There is work that can be done to these air rifles that extends beyond a simple lube tune, and if you can get it professionally done, I would say do it.
Living in Canada there are not alot of tuners this way, and a member here steered me in the right direction for a better home tune and cannot thank him enough. These rifles are of excellent quality for the price we pay, When you consider there are rifles that are $1000.00 to start.
I was always told you get what you pay for and I believe with these you get a little more.Rob

Thanks for replies. Still a top notch shooter. I did E-mail Uramex and Diana in hopes of change. Who knows if enough of us ask for better de-burring/lube during assembly??

I agree, deburring is just as important as anything else you do to an AG.
