Hi Everyone,

Been looking for several years at various airguns. There have been some deals that I passed up on that I have regretted. One is the Daisy 953 that Pyramid used to sell for $ 65. Well this time around there is the Air Arms S500 PCP XTRA FAC for 699 at Airgun Depot. Regular price is about 300 more. I know it costs alot of money but what kind of laptop can you buy for that price, even todays smart phones cost that much and no one blinks when they buy it. Surely a nice laptop/phone but after a year it would be worth half that price at most. You could do alot with it, but how much fun could you have with the laptop? I did alot of airgunning with a daisy 880 in my teens and had tons of fun with it. Many memories made with it. You only live once and Im not getting any younger. Well went ahead and ordered the S500 in 177. Also went ahead and got the Hill MK 4 pump from Pyramid with the Feb 29 Leap year special for 15 % off. I already obtained a Nikon Prostaff 3-9 X 40 to attach to it. From what I understand Air Arms Rifles are hierloom pieces and I am hoping to get years of fun from it. I plan to join a Field Target Club with the AA and will be posting my experiences with the S500 and the Hill Pump here at GTA. Hopefully I will get an extremely accurate rifle with no issues whatsoever. Perhaps I will post some pics or videos here too.

That's a nice rifle for sure. And at a good price. Enjoy the new toy. Funny you say that about phones. My wife complains about my spending on my guns also. But she didn't bat an eye buying an iPhone 6.

Congratulations! Sounds like a terrific deal. I guess it was a Leap Year special?

I've long drooled over Air Arms rifles and when my budget can stand the hit, I'd like to get an S510. Right now I'm about to unbox a new CZ 200T (Air Arms sells it as the T200).

I'll be interested to hear how you make out with the pump. I decided pumping would be too much work and I picked up a used high-pressure steel scuba tank for my gun. In US dollars I paid under $200 for it and it's good for another 10 years.

I love my S510 .22 in walnut. Its a beautiful rifle and it needed nothing done for superb accuracy. It shot great straight from the box and I only clean it. I did add a regulator to mine to keep a very flat string at near max power. I use mine soley for hunting/pesting out to 120 yds and I felt like the regulator would help on those 70+ yd shots other wise it was fine as it came.

You made a great choice. Post pics when you get it

THat would have justified me goign to buy a new airgun....

Congrats Tim, I am sure you will love the Air Arms. I just picked up an S400 SL Carbine for a good deal. Got it to try some 100 yards air gunning this summer, and also to own a top quality rifle. Have fun with it and post some pics!!

Ace, Ill try to get my wife in on the sport too, maybe she will want one of her own. Biker, CZ really make some good guns, their 22 s are top notch also, I have had my eyes on them for a long time too, maybe its be my next one. As to the pumps I need the work out so I ill kill 2 birds as they say. LDP, Airgun depot had a walnut S500 for the same price but it had a righty stock and im a lefty. I was thinking of it but they sold those out. Maybe it will be a good thing for me as being lefty its sort of against me already, the poplar stock is supposed to be ambi. Id rather have a lower grade stock that shoots better as the cheek piece is on both sides. Tweeter, glad to hear you got a good deal too, will post pics asap. Thanks everyone for the kind welcome.

I agree a nice walnut stock that you cant use correctly does you no good. I believe you can buy a lefty walnut to replace it but they are not cheap. It seems from reviews the poplar AA stocks are still really nice stocks.

Here is my little welcome present for you and a simple trick to all Air Arms owners in here (maybe I should post it to a proper gate as well).
As far as I know the guy who tried that out and made the sketches (many years ago) was a Greek tuner.It's written in Greek (but trust me it won't be all Greek to you if you pay some attention to the pictures.You will understand why Air Arms rifles do NOT need a regulator!!!

Does it mean you can learn to adjust the power wheel as your fill pressure changes to keep the same fps through the string? If so that is a great tip.

That's exactly what it means.Find the 0 spot somewhere between the 1 and 2nd position of the power adjuster (slightly different from rifle to rifle).
Once spoted you know what to do:1st magazine shot in position 1 (full power), 2nd magazine shot in position 0 and 3rd magazine in position 1 again.Fantastic shot strings with a non regulated fantastic rifle...

Don't NEED a Regulator ...

That is subjective to what your wanting in stability and a lack of wanting or needing to fiddle with settings each filling ?

Until you have shot a correctly set REGULATED AA 400-500 series rifle, those who would have comment have no clue what there talking about.

Regulated actions in mid / modest power PCP's simply rock !!
