Here’s my hail Mary.

After shot #1, the valve stem began to push through the poppet, absorbing energy from each successive hammer strike, weakening shots 2 through 4. At shot #5, the stem stopped moving and it began acting normally again.

If instead you tell me it will do this every time you fill to a specific pressure, I’m going to need a cup of coffee.

Now that is an interesting string!
Is it safe to assume that there are no broken parts in play?
Not to rule out mechanical but just that nothing is broken.

The stem for the poppet either broke or broke thru the poppet shortening how much the 2nd shot the poppet could open.
