MRodAir Air Max Varmint in .22 - Nice rifle!

A bit off topic but I have a friend with an Air Max Varmint .22 had he evidently double fed it and has one pellet in the barrel and the other half way between the barrel and magazine. Can't seem to get the bolt to push the second pellet on into the barrel and can't seem to push it back into the magazine from the muzzle with a rod. He is asking me for suggestions and I don't know what to tell him. Any help would be appreciated.

I am a total noob. What does it mean when you say "I shimmed mine" ?

Shove it back out the breech with a cleaning rod.
