Did some testing with the new pellet.  They did OK but I think we can get better.  I made a few changes and will have to wait for the machine shop to get them done.  Should get something back in 2-3 weeks.  I want to make them as good as possible before ordering the rest of the molds.

Will keep you posted.

Hey Nick If you are still needing someone with Sam Yang 45 to test I will be more than happy to oblige. I can test out to 80 yards max if that is relevant. I shoot daily with most of my guns either before or after work depending on when my cases are scheduled. Look forward to trying these out either way.

I've tested these pellets and sent the molds back to the mold maker to re-cut and make some changes to it.  I am hoping to get the molds back next week but that may be optimistic.  I will need to retest them when I get molds back and will post when I get them.

Thanks,
Nick

Thanks for the rapid reply. I look forward to thought of a Diablo 45 and how my Sam Yang would shoot with them. Personally I think the 180 grain MIGHT be a little lighter than the Texan would like but I would bet my Yanger would eat them like candy.

180 should be great in the Texan and shoot fast.  I shoot my EPP slug which is 168 grains and it shoots like 1000 fps (can't remember actual fps) and they are very accurate out to 100 yards.  The modifications i made will make this pellet even lighter most likely.  I have new pins being made, one will make it lighter for sure and the other I am not sure about because we changing two different dimensions and did not have the math done to see how it will effect weight on the second pin.

I have sent the molds back to the mold maker to have re some changes made to it.  I am at their mercy to get recut and they have no rush in them.  I expected to have already.  To pour salt in the wound I have to send my machine back to be fixed which means it will be down for at least 3 weeks.

Dont give up Bud It took us 5 years  to get this rite .
The fact is they do  very well in big bores ,  our Diablo pellets  in .457 and .58 cal are now been used in the 100 m bench rest in the Netherlands soon the 100 meter bench rest will include .73 cal
Consider hand cast pellets been able to compete against factory made JSB
before now ,guys were limited  in the pellets class  at  100 m bench rest  up to  9 mm  now the true big bores are coming out to play .
for a Texan to be making 5 shot groups  the size of half a Us $ bill at 300 yards  is possible  leaving the barrel at 1060fps in 180 grain
Keep up the good work

Thanks Jermey.  I know people have reported good stuff about your 45 pellets and hope to offer to people who do not cast for themselves.  I bought your Recluse hop up kit but I have not installed yet.  Thanks for your good words.

I assume you did not have good success with this pellet. I came across this video, that shows it may be stable in a smooth bore. I have been experimenting with different ammo in my smooth bore wing shot and this might be the ticket.

Nick, those look nice, but the skirt seems too thick to flare much. Would the changes you mentioned have anything to do with the skirt?

BTW
The JSB's for 60 cents each is a deal breaker. I have bought AK rounds for 20 cents a round.

I get 14.8mm depth on my evanix (winchester 70-45) magazine. I looked but didn't see if you mentioned the length of the .45 pellet. Would these fit?

I could never get those to shoot satisfactory and decided to scrap making them since I have swage ammo that is fairly light and shoots good and is already cheaper than the diabolo 45 ammo on the market.  I might revisit it at some point but I am focused on my new machine - high speed swager that I am expecting delivery maybe even the end of January.  That is for .300 and smaller slugs but if it works will bring the cost of slugs in those calibers down quite a lot.

I'm sure the absolutely huge BC combined with the short distance makes their test results invalid.  They would probably have to shoot at least several hundred yards to make it remotely represent what goes on with the small pellets we're shooting.
