Pumper with the Williams Twilight Aperture

I took the '97 397PA for an afternoon walkabout. I had recently purchased the Williams Twilight Aperture from AoA and wanted to see how it performs in low light conditions. I must say it works much better than a standard aperture. I was able to pick this red out of the shadows, and I don't think I would have been able to see it with a standard aperture.

Nice going.  Hunting with an AG is tough enough.  An open-sight hunt is a great challenge.

I thought the scout setup would be the optimal sighting system for these pumpers, but I haven't tried it yet. What are the drawbacks?

The drawbacks, IMO, are: Extra expense, bulk, weight, altered balance and increased time to acquire the target.

An alternate sighting arrangement that is light, fast and works well in various lighting conditions.

Extra expense, yes. Weight & balance isn't a problem I've experienced. As for acquisition of target, that's definitely not a problem since you have both eyes open so you get a wider view of an area. It's just a matter of preference.
