First Shot From New Slavia 634

Over the past month or so I'v e been checking out the online reviews and forum posts for a Slavia 631 and 634. Originally I wanted a Slavia 631, but after much internal debate I decided on the 634. Ordered it from "Buds Gun Shop" and in less than a week it was sitting at my front door. Unfortunately no wood stocks were available so I had to go with the synthetic version. 

Unpacked it and cleaned the barrel and took the first shot.  See the attached file for the result.  I think it is going to be a keeper. Hopefully this is an omen of the future. If I do my part Been seeing nice 5 shot groups(Sandbag rest) with a few fliers. 

A few of questions:
1- What is the typical break-in period for things to get stable (approx # of shots)
2- Overall the gun seems light on lube, a little rough, is this normal for the Slavia guns?
3- Are the hard to lube/tune? This will be my first attempt at taking a springer apart.
4- Is there good information out on doing 634 tunes?  What I found was not in English.

P.S. With a lucky shot like that, I should have bought a Lottery ticket that day.

 To answer your questions-

 1- My 634 settled right down from the start, but that was after a teardown and relube.

  2-Mine was light on lube internally, and what was present was of questionable origin.

  3-No, they are very simple to teardown and reassemble. There is very little preload on the spring and I did not find a spring compressor to be required for disassembly.

  4- Use this tutorial, it is for a 631, but the 634 is virtually identical and tears down exactly the same- https://sites.google.com/site/cherrytwist/slavia631tune-up

  My 634 benefitted from a proper lubing with Ultimox 226, and by shrink wrapping the rear guide to tighten up the fit to the main spring. If you are capable, making a new rear guide that fits properly will reap you many benefits.

She made it in. She is very accurate, but not much power. It is more a basement gun for winter shooting in my opinion. Paul did a good job 550FPS with H&N FTT 8.64 grain 4.51 head. Just slower than what I am use to.

Have fun with it!  I have the 631.  The 634 is nearly identical, except for velocity (CZ rates the 631 and 634 at 560 FPS and 720 FPS, respectively).  The plastic trigger guard and barrel latch knob are weak points, but otherwise they're built like a tank.  I would agree that the 631 is best suited to being a basement gun, but it's great at the job.  Super accurate and smooth at about 600 FPS.  Mine took 500 rounds to smooth out.  The spring guide was fine - I polished the muzzle crown, de-burred the trigger parts, and polished the spring ends.  Otherwise my mods were all external.  It's my favorite.

LOL It is warm in Texas. I am going to sell mine. It just isn't for me (I would like 150FPS more). It is very smooth and Paul Watts did a great job. It is good for 20 yards, but with a scope I need to hold over 2 mil-dots to hit at 32 yards, but it still hits accurately.

Thanks for the tuning guide Chuck.  I just bought a (Blue) 634 for $142 at WalMart.com.  Shoots way hotter than I would have thought (780's with Benji Hollowpoints) and very accurate.  Twangy though.  I will do a little review when I have time, but up to this point I am impressed.  Lotsa gun for the money?
