shoot it for about 1000 shots let it break in. Keep the same scope that it comes with on it for at least those 1000 shots. Expect it to smoke most if not all of those shots. Great gun to shoot. Smooth cocking and shooting rifle. Get some quality pellets do not use anything with the name crossman on it that does include the crossman premiere hollow points.... they are garbage. Go get some JSB or H&N pellets.

Hey Chris,
+1 ^ Blackfocal
When ready, I have found the Hawke 3x9x40 is perfect. Clear/Light/$80. Mount with UTG Accushot Offset (1piece mount -$15). The mount pictured is
not
the Offset mount, which
IMO
does not allow the scope to travel back far enough for ideal viewing. My .22 cal. likes H&N FTT best.
Have fun

Ya I figured there would be a decent break in I already picked up some hn ftts on a recommendation by shadow to try in my halo hunter 440 I have been looking into Hawke scope everyone likes them I have a center point 4-16x40AOIR I had gotten for 35 bucks great deal but it's already mounted.the post mount is that...the one like a cantilever where it will set it further back from the dovetails...Thanks for the replies.. now what is useable range I am a very solid shooter with Springer break barrels

Hi Kirk,
My reply isn't quite with the thread although I originally had a Hawke Vantage 3-9x40 AO IR mounted with Hawke Reach Forward Match mounts on my .25. I just reversed mine to bring my scope farther back. Had to get them direct from Hawke Optics because PA doesn't sell them. Also got the Vantage because they're discontinuing the Sport line of scopes but someone probably still has some of the Sport version. The 3-9 is now mounted on my Umarex Fuel and I got a 4-12x50 for the Hatsan.

I replied because I was looking at your stock and had to ask, did it come the way it looks in your picture or did you use something special on it? I have the .25 version but my stock looks like they used some kind of dull coat on it after they were done making it.
I have a lousy camera, but here's a pic of those mounts on my rifle. I have them on 3 of my rifles, they work great for being able to move a scope farther back.

Hey Steve,
My stock is
not
the original factory finishing.
I sanded off factory satin finish/stain going from 100 grit paper up to 1200 grit carborundum. Then used about 20 coats of tongue oil after applying a light coat of Minwax Dark Walnut stain.
However, on most of my Hatsan's, just use Minwax Dark Walnut stain and Tru-Oil.
