The 1322 Takes It's 1st Nutter

Granted, we're all taking squirrel at the moment..... Glad I can finally add my little story to this gate!

Poked my head out the door this morning, listened for which critters were out there in the yard. I had the 1322 pumped, H&N Excite Hammer 14.66gr loaded, and was going to just let it go on a beer can at 40ft. as that was my morning ritual...

UNTIL.....

She barked at me very loudly, far enough I had to pursue, so threw on my crocs and stepped outside. (Yes, I wear crocs, don't judge me lol)

She kept barking, and barking... I got closer, and closer, watching her movements, waiting for her to spring off the oak branch she was on and give chase...

Lined my shot up, given the extreme upward angle too, so I let that H&N Excite Hammer loose....  THWACK!!!  ...she barked again, and they way she jumped made it seem like a good shot... She kept barking, and jumping. Must've hit the branch she was on and startled her. Upset, but not even close to discouraged...

So now I had to reload, and pump that gun back up (which with my experience with the Mk177 and this 1322, isn't hard to do in under 30sec, but you have to watch your fingers, or you'll jam 'em up under that pump arm.)

She started moving, and fast, but I watched her the entire time, giving chase.

I finally got ahead of her a few trees, and she froze up on a cedar branch. Head was exposed but the branch was moving a lot with her weight on it, so I waited, patiently, and she just sat there... I still had to account for an extreme upward angle, but at this close distance, knew I could put it thru her heart/lungs and she'd drop like a fly.... I didn't have much confidence on a headshot with the way the branch was swaying... so again, (13 lucky pumps when I'm after something like a squirrel, just a habit hehe) let that H&N Excite Hammer loose, and right into her side it went... THWACK!! ...and she just dropped like a sack of potatoes. Nice thud when she hit the ground, twitched for 2secs. then she expired.
