NP2 Trigger Grip Placement

My NP2 has been apart for a few weeks and I just got it back together. While it was down, I shot my .25 Marauder more than I had been, while fine tuning my NP2. The first thing I noticed going back to the NP2 was the major difference in the grip between the two guns and the effect it has on the trigger finger placement.

With a gun that has a wider grip I normally place the first joint of my finger on the trigger. Today after shooting a few sets with my NP2 and getting poor groups because of my inconsistent trigger pulls, I decided to to move to my second joint. This gave me a better feel and for me, a more consistent pull. My groups have tightened up considerably.

I was just curious if anyone else has had to adjust how they pull the trigger because of grip size.

Grip size has a whole lot to do with comfort, finger placement, and sideways torque when pulling the trigger. By the way, how is it shooting now? One reason I am looking to get a Steel Eagle.

It's feels good and is shooting as accurate as it has ever. Crosman Domes are averaging 720 fps. I missed shooting it while it was down. I'm looking for a machinist who will bore out the piston so, I can see how it will do with the N-Forcer GS. I needed to take a break from working on it for a while and enjoy shooting it as is.

For some reason, I had to put it on a press again to it get it back together. I was unable to use my Irwin Clamp.

I modified my clamp to work better. I narrowed the solid foot so that it will fit deeper between the forks. I remove the cross pin so the foot goes all the way in. Then on the screw foot, I cut a slot so that the web in the cap will fit and allow it to be as centered as possible. Works much better now.

I was lazy and didnt take the barrel off. The way my friend's press is set up, I can press it without putting pressure on the barrel.
I plan modifying my clamp before I take it down again, so I can get it done at home. Is your Irwin clamp the twist type?

Good idea.  Can you post pics of the jaws?

I often mount mine in a B&D Workbench for stability.

I finally took some pix. Sorry for the delay. Pay no attention to the rust on the clamp. It is a throw away. I narrowed the foot to fit between the forks. Remove the cross pin so that it goes in all the way.

Ken, what did you cut it with?

I used a Dremel with a heavy cut-off wheel. An angle grinder with a thin wheel would also work, but would be harder to control.
How do you like the way it almost centers the clamp screw on the plug? Now I don't get even the slightest amount of torque slip as before.
