My HW97K is about 10 db quieter now.
I took the TKO of my 1322 and cut of the ends.
What was left, 2.4 inches, was inserted into the muzzle brake.
It was a perfect fit after I removed the carbon tape.
It is about 10 db quieter now. Very pleased with the result.

Very interesting.....what size is the allen key required to remove the front end cap of the 97 muzzle?

I also have a TKO for my 2240 but don't think I want to cannibalize it.   Perhaps i can insert something else into the 97 muzzle.  I think I saw someone on U-tube do that a while ago.    I've been very discreetly shooting my rifle in my back yard (within LA city limits)  but any reduction in report would be helpful.

It's 7mm Allen key for the end cap.
I've tried a lot these U-tube modifications and nothing works better than the cut off TKO.

Back in the 60's when I lived next to the LAX, I would shoot from the garage through the window.

When the parents weren't home, any room in the house was fair game! 

Same trick used in El Segundo, Hawthorne and Torrance after I moved out!

Countless HOSPS and Rats, plenty of pigeons and more than a few opossum succumbed to my Sheridan (NOT a quiet gun) with the neighbors none the wiser. 

A 'pop' could be caused by almost anything ... Staying "out of sight" is the key.

So true...   I keep a hammer and a length of 2x4 close by and during my shooting session I would occasionally swing the hammer on the wood as if I'm working on a project.   Neighbors frequently hear me with my power tools so I so don't think they can distinguish the "thunk" of an air gun from the general construction noise I create...

Smoketown, roadfix, this is great. I'm loving it. Learning how to get along with the neighbors.

I'm here not too far from LAX and in Los Angeles. Time to bring out the power tools.
