Will it damage my hw 95

Accidently fired  my hw 95 with no pellet will it damage it after one mistake?

 You should be ok, I don't own a HK but I did it accidently with my Diana a couple times maybe more with no damage to the rifle. Used to shoot cleaning pellets through the barrel by themselves before I learned you should have a pellet behind them. Something you definately want to avoid doing though.

Welcome Todd. It's probably ok. I dry fired my 95 twice by mistake right after tuning her. I was not happy with myselfe to say the least, but fortunately she's ok. That was months ago and a whole bunch of led since. Just try not to do it again. good luck!

It might or not. Only a chrony reading will be able to tell any ill effects.
I've done it, with no ill effects, but consider myself lucky. Shoot it and see if any changes have set in.

Why exactly is dry-firing such a non-no in springers?  Is the piston going to hit the front 'end' because it's moving to fast, with no pellet-caused resistance?

Yeah you hit the nail on the head.  This is also why we say not to use those super lighweight pellets.

Should be OK! A few weeks ago at a THAGC "fun match" I dry fired my R9 twice because I had a tin of "bad" JSB Exacts that contained pellets that fit so loosely three "flipped out" of the leade but one was noticed when it "flipped out" so there weren't three dry fires. During that match I only knocked down a pitiful 21% of the targets (13/60) whereas I normally hit 75-80% so I was sure that something was screwed up after the dryfires. Getting home I tore down the R9 thinking that I'd find a broken spring but I couldn't find anything wrong with the gun. Then I started questioning if the scope "bit the dust" due to the rather sharp shot cycle, but again, the scope was just fine. I switched from the JSB Exacts I was using and started once again shooting CPLs from the die lot marked and dated 1250 count boxes and the accuracy was restored to "normal for me"! I ended up selling the remaining 9 tins of Exacts and have been using CPLs since!
