Sorry I seem to be having a problem with my geek slipping out today.  Here is my issue, I am trying to get my wife involve in air gunning.  So far with no success, although I think she is showing signs of weakening! Tonight she agreed to let me set up my shooting bench and she will try. She is concerned about the weight of the rifle. I have been looking at rifles for her, I don't want a springer. It needs to be something easy to shoot. I don't want a PCP, I would be the one having to pump it. She has scoliosis and would be unable to pump. It needs to be light weight. She would be shooting at under 20 yards nearly all the time. I shoot mostly .22 but have no objection to .177. What does that leave...C02. (don't even mention multi pumpers ok!) The Disco says it can run C02, how do you fill it? Beyond that Mike at FD has a nice one, I am a big fan of Mikes tuned work. Umarex has the Fusion which fits the price range. Any other suggestions?

I would also consider the QB 78/79 as possible candidates. The '78 takes two Co2 caplets and only weighs in @ 5.7 lbs, the '79 uses a 9oz Co2 tank but weighs a little more @ 7.5 lbs.

Lighter yet is the Xisico XS60C...takes two Co2 caplets like the QB78, but a tad lighter @ 5.3 lbs.

Out of them all though, the Disco you mentioned is the lightest @ 5.1 lbs...

I know there are other options, but these were the first ones that come to mind. I'm sure others will chime in with more choices...

If your looking for lite fun take a look at the custom shop at Crosman.  Your wife can build one to what she wants. The 2400KT's are fun shooters.

The Crossman shop had not crossed my mind, good idea. I am a big fan of Mikes stuff over at FD. I am starting to lean more to the Disco right now. Even if I have to pump it for her, it only charges to 2000. That's no big deal. I will get her out to my shooting bench tomorrow. We will see how it goes from there. What ever we chose (if I can pull this off at all) it has to be able to take down a squirrel.

I just took a look at the QB78 on Archers site. Not bad looking on paper, might be a good fit. Defiantly cheap enough, it would leave a little more money for a scope for her...... I need to do a bunch more research, and get her to agree. That's going to be a big job. I was going to set the range up today but when the temp hit 103, I better wait for my weekend when we can set up just before sundown.

I love the way this forum blocks stuff! I wasn't cussing up there, I used a vendors name that begins with Arch and that's was I get. Try to use the word to pull with a vacuum and you get the same results!!

Well, this may be a game changer. I just watched a YouTube video from good ol Rick Usler (did I spell that right?) about filling the Disco with C02. He made a comment I have never heard before. Basically he said C02 does not function well in extreme cold....I knew that, or in extreme heat....that I didn't know. We routinely are over 100 in the summer. How hot can C02 be used? I might have to stick with a PCP if C02 cant handle 100.

You might take a look at a hipac system. It screws in where CO2 carts go, and can be pumped up to about 1200psi. There are extensions available to give more more volume for more shots.

I think I have made my decision. The Crossman 2400KT from the custom shop. 18 inch barrel with a nice muzzle brake comes in at $107.00 Light as a feather and easy to use. Should have good accuracy from what I read and enough power to drop a squirrel at the short ranges in my yard. I am waffling back and forth over the long running argument .177 or .22. I am leaning toward .22 but just because I have tons of pellets on hand. I know .177 has a flatter trajectory which would be better for my wife. Well the biggest battle is going to be getting my wife to agree. That my friends might take a while!

If you're going with a co2 powered gun, stick with the .22.. If you bulk fill a Disco with co2 I doubt that you will have much chance of valve lock on a hot day as the Disco has a heavier striker spring than most as it's also intended for pcp use.
