JSB King & King Heavy? Will The Real King Please Stand Up! Video Ups~~~~~~~

Received them today with a big thanks to Drig who made it all possible..... Well looking at them,  First off I do not approve of the design Looks like a cross between the Kings and the shape of the Monsters.
The skirts are where the real difference comes into play. The heavies has a much larger diameter skirt, that I feel is too wide and will cause quick lead build up. I always thought that they should have keep the same length and or just went ahead and made them in the style of the monster pellets. One way that I can tell that the skirt is way too big is because its shaving way too much fps off... I am shooting the 31gr at 971-981fps and these are coming in at 923fps 50-60 fps loss with only a 3gr increase... I know my rifle very well and have done many many test.. the perfect pellet in a barrel fit should only loose half of what it is loosing. Should have put them,  at the lowest 940-950fps. To confirm this I put some of my dry lube on them and gain 10fps.  That skirt also does not fit inside the clip good at all.., and I have heard this from others.
I tuned it down to exactly 60ftlb to take it to the range and see how they group at 50yards... first If they look good there, then I will move out to 100yards, if they do well there I will move to 120yards. So I am going to sign off and see you guys when I get back.

As you all know I shoot nothing but JSB in my rifles with great success I might add. I'm not going to sugar coat anything.......These pellets are not for Hatsan.. In fact I think that JSB made a mistake on this pellet and thats why they have yet to be sold main stream. A .260 skirt is way too big! I do not have any .25 pellets with that large of diameter skirt. I did 5 groups of 5....wind 10mph to 12mph... Remember that I shoot in the wind enough to know a pellets worth. First off,  as I just pushed this pellet thru the clip it came out deformed ... way too tight. The pellet is deformed before it even reaches the barrel. The pellet has great potential, but they need to bring that skirt size down!
     Granted that all the shots that I took, each one could have been a head shot at 50yards no doubt, but at 100yards it was not worth sharing in my eyes, I did shoot a 5 shot group at 100 with  3 touching showing that the pellet does have potential. I will say this again the skirt is too big. That is the only thing that is holding this pellet back. To me a good pellet is one that can group inside a dime at 50yards and inside and inch at 100yards.. That is my standard , some others standards might be different. With the skirt being so large it shaves off fps by the ton.... I tuned it down to where I saw a decent curve avg 910fps, After testing I put the Real Kings thru the chrono and I was getting 1022fps the 31gr were 981fps,  they only lost 41fps over a 6gr difference. Now from 981 to  910fps with the King Heavies they lost a whopping 71fps over just 3gr difference! Does not add up huh So conclusion: Not for the Hatsan barrels....Bottom line Skirt too large in diameter......Thats is the only thing holding them back. I have a video coming but for now here is the groups at 50yards, and what the pellet looks like when only pushed thru the clip.

That loss is pretty significant. The loss from my Cricket was about 40fps. The 31.02gr H&N came out at 910avg and the King Heavy at 871fps. You are correct that the skirts are a bit tight. I measured them to be .26cal (6.62mm) skirt and .25 (6.35mm) head.

Drew thats matches up...we have both measured .260 skirt for the heavies.. also your loosing 40fps and the Hatsan maybe a tighter barrel or choke at the end of the barrel could be the difference in that 10fps between the two barrels. Now the question is ......Is it worth the switch? Im gaining 10ftlb from pellet to pellet because I tuned it down for a better curve, going to look at the groups.

Thats about right, different barrels will give different results. Depending on price, it may or may not be worth the change for me, as anything I will be hunting can be taken with <20ft/lb. The Baracuda gives me 40fpe@50y currently and are just as accurate in my own opinion, plus they come with a screw top lid. I would like to stick with one pellet manufacturer at some point. It would be nice if that could be JSB, as I can use the King, King Heavy and the Polymags.  I believe the Barracudas are already lubed from the factory, as they have a different finish than the JSB. One of the things I did notice with switching from the Barracuda to the JSB, is that the accuracy was not as good until I had 10-15 pellets through the barrel. The Baracuda's on the other hand seemed to group fine after shooting the JSB's or other pellets.

Interesting. I wonder how other Air Arms guns are shooting them since at the Shot Show JSB showed a very tight 50 yard group from a S510.  I will try them in my Sumatra and see how they perform.

what was cinsidered a tight group? Without the wind could have done better, but I did do a group of the 25.4gr Kings after and was inside a dime again? So I can not blame the wind too much, cause I can shoot in the wind but the skirts to me are way too big. You can tell that they can be very accurate.  I think that these are a wrong run, I just do not see JSB making a pellet that does not fit into a clip? Nope not buying it. Thats why all the main stream venders like P.A do not have them yet...some thing went wrong, and I'm looking at it. I buy nothing but JSB and only use JSB in all my rifles, these are wrong........I am highly disappointed.

Oh I remember, yeah you can get those groups at 50 those 5 groups right at a dime and under if I had better wind but the pellets are no good for me if they are damaged coming out the clip before they even get to the barrel. It gets worse after 50yards.

   Good review, I'm sad to see that. I hope these will group better than you were able to get out of the Hatsan, when shot through the cricket. I will have to do that sometime in the next week or two.

Had s few mins of daylight left
Turned spring up and got close to 83fpe out of this pellet, but it's real hard to load in clip and I see what Baxter was saying. So I only ran one clip. I wonder if the ldc slows down the speed any? I will test that some day when I get s chance.

Can't test that at house as my bt65 sounds more like s firearm  now without ldc

I had the oversized skirt problem with JSB .35 cal using them in my Cricket in 9mm .354, loaded hard and did not group as good straight out of the tin. So I bought a Lee sizing die and sized them down, now they load normally and shoot way tighter groups. Now in an actual .357 with the .360 JSB skirt they may work just fine, and they do in my Sam Yang Recluse.

What maybe you can do is, if you have a sizing die you could resize the JSB .25 heavies down a little, I bet that would work! I sized and lubed all of my JSB's. Made a world of difference. It couldn't hurt thats for sure!

Just some thoughts and good luck, they do look promising thats for sure.

Maybe someone will make one. Pellet would be nice other than that. Also I had a great es spread. I'm guessing because of skirt being to big. Wish I could have shot more but it clouded up earlier.

You could make one, or have Lee Precision make you one, they will custom make a bullet sizing die for $34.00. I use the little Lee hand press and a .356 Die for my .35 JSB's. The die actually resizes them to .355 by my Calipers readings.

You can resize a tin of pellets with this in just a few minutes! It is really easy to use and takes no pressure at all.

There are other choices in bullet sizers from other companies ranging from .251, .257, .258 that I seen on this site Midway USA,

Its just a matter of slugging your barrel and making sure of the correct size you need and not under sizing the pellets or bullets.
