Advice and opinions on the Hatsan 125TH

G'day All,
As you know, I already have two Hatsan 125s, one is a Black Stock, and the other is a TH model.
Just recently I contacted HatsanUSA and ordered a TH stock for my Hatsan 125. The regular stock was making my wrist ache [broke it years ago], and the TH stock didn't bother me at all.

Both of those 125s are now TH stocks and are both .22 caliber, with Nitro Pistons; [Crosman].
I am very seriously considering buying [from PA] a Hatsan 125TH [.177] and I just chatted with Wes S at PA's Chat.
He told me that the [.177] caliber Hatsan 125 isn't any good... I was a little shocked by this comment and now I need some reassurances from you.

I have the Benji Trail NPXL [.177] but after all the changes et al, I have been thinking about a .177 Hatsan 125 that also has Iron Sights.

If the two .22s I have are any indication, a .177 should also be a tack driver [iron sights] and I may leave it that way.

Please let me know what you honestly think about the Hatsan 125TH [.177].
I know that there are lots of you will probably, and loudly, hail a .25 caliber, but I just want a .177 for plinking and tiny game [birds, chipmunks, squirrels etc] and leave the two .22 Hatsan's for larger game and longer range shooting.

I don't want to blow much more than $250 on this rifle. Incidentally, I also have three OEM scopes and will also get one with the purchase. That way, If I bust one I have spares. I will upgrade the rings though, for sure.

He didn't explain, but just said I should buy a 95...

Vernon, Focal, he probably tried to steer you away from the 125 in .177 because almost any pellet you use in that gun will be supersonic.  If you like the Model 125, go with a .22 or .25 caliber.

That would be my guess too.  I personally, would not like this kind of velocity.  Mod 95 makes more sense to me in .177.

You know...
I should have listened to you guys in the beginning. Let me explain...
I went to PA to buy my third Hatsan 125, and yes, I wanted a TH and in [.25], and there was some possibility on this rifle being unavailable as the newer models are coming soon [QE = Quiet Energy] which will be a shorter barrel to accommodate the SilentAir suppressor.

Anyway, I decided on a Umarex Octane .22 - which was returned to PA within two hours of receiving it. [Long Story!!!]

So, now I am ready to buy a Hatsan 125 [.25] Black Stock [they don't have any TH models left], and when I do get it, [Black Stock model], I'll remove one of the TH stocks from a [.22s] and put it on the [.25] 125.

Then, I'll have a Hatsan 125 Black Stock [.22] [as before], probably with the OEM 3 - 9 x 32 [fixed objective] scope on it.
Also, I'll have a Hatsan 125TH Black [.22] with a Leapers UTG 4-16 x 40mm AO MilDot [illuminated] scope
and I'll have a Hatsan 125TH Black [.25] with a Leapers UTG 4-16 x 500 AO MilDot [illuminated] scope.
I already have those two Leapers UTG scopes on the 125s. I'll just move the 50mm to the new [.25 cal] rifle.

I may even [one day] contact HatsanUSA and buy a 125 [.177] barrel for the top rifle [just for fun] and then I'll be buying some H&N [15-21 gr] pellets to keep the velocity below 1020fps.

How does that sound?

Sounds like you will have the 125TH family complete! Ive got two, one in .22 and one in .25 black and camo, respectively. Great break barrels, but like you, just love that stock.

when i contacted hatsan about wanting to get a 125 sniper barrel for a 135 or the 85 sniper barrel for a 95 i was told they don't sell separate barrels or actions because they're numbered together .


another option could be getting a refurbished 125th .177 from the airgun pro-shop for $135.47 shipped to your front door .

You're absolutely right Jeff,
I messaged Hatsan USA on their site, and that's the answer which they replied.

If I ship the rifle to them, [my cost] and pay $95.00 up front, plus $20.00 for return shipping, they would put the [.177] barrel on the rifle for me!!!
That's about 50% of the cost of the rifle!!!
I don't think so.
With a good warranty on all three of them, I don't think so.
I don't need a [.177] all that bad! 
Having two 125 [.22s] is OK with me; I have a good Leapers UTG 4-16x40 AO MD Illum. scope on one, for reaching out!!! [zeroed @ 40m]. 
The other one, I re-installed the OEM Optima 3-9x32 Fixed [adding UTG scope rings]. I've got spares of that too!!!
That will give me a .22 which I've zeroed @ 25m. [for driving tacks!] 

The new [.25] Hatsan 125, has a Leapers UTG 4-16x50mm AO MD Illum. scope which, once broken-in, will be zeroed out to 40m as well. 

Oh Jeff, I went to look at the info on the Hatsan 125TH [.177] Refurbished rifle and it doesn't indicate what the piston is driven by.
Is it a 'Spring' a Nitro piston or Vortex?

G'day,

I bought the Hatsan 125 TH [.22] to have a relatively cheap "cannon" with which to use hunting bunnies in inclement weather rather than take out a rifle with a wooden stock.  One problem soon became obvious: the dead straight barrel is mounted at the pivot bolt in the breech area with a slight rightwards angle so that, at 10 yards with  a centred leapers UTG scope it shoots about 7" to the right.  To get it to shoot straight with the scope the lateral adjustment of the scope had to be wound way too far for the integrity of the scope.  At the moment I am shooting with open sights [and 65 year-old eyes through bi-focal glasses] at a limited range!  I tried shimming the pivot area, but to no avail so far - I don't think I have worked out where the mis-alignment originates.  That will take some very careful measurement.

I just shoot off a bench. I prefer .177. With my .177 135 I shoot bigger pellets to slow it down.

since gas pistons are a selling point with a premium price over a metal spring , i'm sure if it had a vortex piston that it would be mentioned .
metal springs seem to be more dependable according to those in the know FWICT though .
