Oh, the humanity. My Disco is wearing a $5 Crosman scope!

I've long suspected that the scopes I've had on my springer and nitro piston rifles were failing, so since today was a gorgeous day out, I decided to really wring them out.  I knew my Disco would shoot bugholes with CPHP's, even using open sights, so I started swapping scopes.

THREE scopes later (an older Tasco 3-9x32mm, a 3-year old Centerpoint 3-9x40mm, and a year-old Hammers 3-9x40mm), and EVERY scope failed to behave.  All three were showing inconsistent click adjustments and POI changes with AO adjustments.  The CP was actually the least bad, but the image clarity was pretty poor compared to the Hammers.

The only scope left was a 2-yr old 4x15mm Tasco I picked up at Walmart on clearance for no particular reason.  Amazingly, it was easy to zero at 15 yards, and even held its own out to 40 yards on soda cans!

Of course, once the light started to fade, it was almost unusable, and I'm accustomed to more magnification, so it will be replaced.  Granted, they're all $60 scopes, but what are the odds three scopes all go bad in a year?

The odds of getting a good scope that is under $60 is  very small. Most people cant shoot well enough or don't have a rifle accurate enough  to really tell if their scope is tracking or holding zero.
 I know for years i had no idea a lot of my misses were from low end optics not holding zero and my zero shifting when changing magnification. Even some of the high end $500 to 2,000 scopes don't  track correctly. Granted the number of those that dont hold zero or track correctly is very very small. I finally  have an accurate rifle and can shoot well enough to figure out if its the scope the rifle or me thats not working.

Glad you got things figured out. I am sure you will be happy when you get a decent scope that does what it is supposed to!

I know the feeling. Just had two scopes take a &^^& on me Friday.
Not really sure on what to do unless I can find a 200$ scope that can hold a zero.
