Will a 3000 psi tank fill a 3000psi airgun? Do you fill the airgun to full capacity? How many fills on 3000 vs. 4500? I can get a used 3000 psi tank at local dive shop for $60.

I can get a used 3000 psi tank at local dive shop for $60. The friend who has my M-Rod has an older STEEL Scuba tank and the local shop will overfill it to 3300-3400 psi and that allows him to fill his M-rod something like 18-20 times to 3000 psi then when it wont fill all the way he tops off with his Hill pump. But not all dive shops will do that and he claims its only with the steel tanks. You need a tank that can be filled past 3000 psi to re-fill a 3000psi PCP. That rule I do know. A 3000 psi tank will fill it, just not to 3000 psi.BZ
I have a "minnow" size 90CI tank vs the Guppy being about 110CI. Both are 4500 psi. They are I freeken deal for going out and about if, and probably only if, you bite the bullet on a shoebox setup. Otherwise one large tank is the way to go due to the cost of fills as well as time and commuting to do so. I started with an 88 footer but only will take that with me if I'm going out of range for a week or so. Maybe not even then, I'll just take a springer along (as if I'd be caught dead without one, anyway).Bigger calibers take more air. Best and I mean best group with a springer was .34" at 40Y (.177 R11). That's about as good as I can do with a PCP at 50Y (actually .242" at 50Y [HM1000 .22]) which means translated to about 1-1.5" at 100. 1" cherry picked, 1.25-2.5, not.I've never tried the springers that far, yet. I think they're all fun, but not necessarily night and day as some would have you believe. Now if you need to hunt at 50 or 75Y, then I'd change my tune for what knockdown power is available along with the accuracy of a larger pellet.
