changing barrel caliber of marauder

This is probably a dumb question but here goes. I watched video of guy swapping barrels on marauder from 25 cal to 22 caliber. It seemed pretty simple. He had 177, 22, and 25 caliber barrels. Only took couple minutes. My question is ... do you also have to change shroud and baffles for each caliber or are they all same size? If the same size works for all how much does the barrels cost. Just thought this might be interesting if not too expensive.

.22 to .177 is pretty easy with barrel, baffles, bolt, magazine having to be changed.
The .25....New receiver, bolt, barrel, shroud, baffles, magazine.
Scott has written extensively on this subject.
Better to buy additional rifles. IMHO

Was he changing out the hole top end or just barrels and bolts? 

Either way, it is not that convenient swapping back and forth.   

On Gen II, the baffles are the same size for all calibers.

I have a wood version .25 Marauder set up to shoot .25, .22, and .177.

I have only had Benjamin and Sheridan pumpers for 25 years and the Marauder was going to be my long awaited first PCP (excluding my home made .308/9mm big bore 1990).

I had a loaner .22 Synthetic version for a while but the plastic stock was unexceptable to me. I have made an  oversize Monte Carlo cheekpiece out of maple and it is painted bed liner black with grit added for traction on those hot sweaty Field Target days.

I fabricated a Kimberstyle trigger guard out of aluminum the front and part of the bottom are punch stippled and grit added. I bobbed the safety lever and smoothed and polished the face of the trigger.

I could not pass up the opportunity to have the power and accuracy associated with the .25 with the premium Green Mountain barrel. The truth of the matter is .22 Suits my needs and intended uses better.

I made a sleeve out of brass a lttle longer than the breech so I could install the smaller diameter factory .22 And .177 barrels. I am probably going to go to a full length carbon fiber sleeve.

I made a new bolt from scratch out of a section of 10/22 barrel that allows me to change the pellet prod for different calibers and different lengths. My neighbor (new to adult airgunning) just got a refurbished .25 and I have made the conversion for him except I modified the factory bolt to accept multiple prods.

Apparently there is a different exhaust valve spring in the .25 But for .177 and .22 I have found it inconsequential.The only other part that is different is that the .25 Uses a larger transfer port. Oops forgot the front shroud mount is different.

I can and have changed mine back and forth several times. I think I can do it in less than 10 minutes.

In .25 I have shot groups just over 1/4'' CTC at 50 yards. .22 sub 1/2'' CTC at 50 yards on a good day. And I learned a very valuable lesson about .177 At 50 yards...... At the lower power level I shoot (JSB 8.44 At 875fps) .177 isn't hardly worth shooting if the is any kind of wind.

I haven't made any previous post about it because I was having trouble posting pics. I know how you guys are about no pics.

I love my Marauder, it was a great gun when I got it but now it's 'all that, a bag of chips and two extra barrels'!

Greg covered how to do it with a sleeve.  You can also change out via just crosman parts: 

- Bolt
- Barrel
- Breech
- Magazine
- Barrel Oring
- Shroud mounts
- TP
- Valve spring (gen 2)

Breech and bolt are version dependent.

I think it is still a good idea and would work.  I just didn't want to mess with it any further.  The stock 177 breech and barrel is doing well on the reg gun, and I have no plans to swap cals back and forth.    I think it is also a good idea to use a 25 cal breech if you plan to have an LW 0.630 barrel machined to fit.  It doesn't need be as thin.

I bought (at least) one in each caliber and I enjoy them all - even in the same day.

If you just want one gun, buy the 25 M-rod and enjoy amazing accuracy and decent power for the price.  The 25 M-rod is head and shoulders above the other calibers.
