Looking for suggestions on a air rifle for a newbie

You're probably going to wind up choosing between gun type and pellet size.
From what you've wrote thus far, I think you'll be trying to decide between .177 and .22 pellet sizes.
Then you will want to decide between "break-barrel and "fixed barrel".
Then you'll have to decide between "springer" and "gas piston".
Then you'll realize that you need to decide between easy or brash handling. You'll probably decide easy for what you want.
Then you'll have to decide how much to spend for most the quality. Patience will buy you more for your money in a used gun most likely.
Then you will discover how important (and difficult) owning a good scope is.
I suggest buying a good scope and then looking for a nice gun to mount under it.
Sooooo much more but the Hatsan you mentioned may, as Joe said, be a bit much power for indoors but I love my Hatsan 95's! Of all the regular Hatsans you see, you are really looking at only three different powerhouses. Hatsan also builds under other names.
Boy, have you got a lot to discover, but fear not, it's all here somewhere, even target info.
And while these guys may seem a little "kirt" at times I assure you they are not. They are really great folks and will fall all over themselves to help you out.

As mentioned previously, the Hatsan 125 is designed primarily for hunting and is much heavier, harder to cock, and more powerful than you need (or will find enjoyable to shoot for significant periods) for indoor target shooting.

Hatsan makes a lower-powered rifle that is similar, lighter, and cheaper than the Hatsan 125 sniper:

However, it supposedly has a mediocre-at-best trigger that probably is not too great for target shooting; there is some British company that makes better replacements that will cost you about $50. 

Hatsan also makes the Model 85 Sniper with the better Quattro trigger:

Umarex also makes a number of somewhat similar-looking air rifles.

no one need to settle down...

you just have a lot of learning to do...

plus realize what you think is often different than what you say...  you did not say it was the sniper look that you  like...

me I like the sniper like accuracy of my 953 so I would be pre disposed to see your statement that way if you are not being specific.

indoors you want a low fpe rifle  for outdoors and hunting you want high fpe.

you also need to look at the pros and cons of different powerplants...

If you read my first post you will see "I would like to get one that is designed as a sniper type rifle."

ron, no need to get upset. people are trying to give you the help you asked for.
For one thing. no air gun is designed as a sniper rifle, they are air guns. "sniper rifle" is very vague and to people how know about air guns, well, ...as you stated , you don't know anything at all about air guns, so let people help you.

You can close this thread I am out of here.  Some do need to calm down, they shouldn't say I didn't say something when I clearly did. when people say they don't know what a "sniper type rifle is, they need to educate themselves there are Sniper type air rifles.

Every forum has a few that are always here and reply to every post and then they get offended when they "Think I said something I didn't" I admitted to not knowing anything about air rifles but when some of your senior members don't know what a sniper type rifle is they need to learn also. This is not meant for you Steve it is for others. If an admin sees this post you can close my account I am not here to be treated like that Kirby!!!

Hey dude I was just trying to let you know that was a very vague statement...

I have fired sniper rifles   there is  no set look to a sniper rifle...

you can use a Browning Automatic .338 to reach out and touch some one or a 50 cal Barret or my grand fathers m1903 30.06...

I think currently they use a Remington 700 based rifle...

The rest of what you have said I will not respond to...

Well, glad you are doing your research. And glad you chose GTA to ask for help in the process. This place has an abundance of information on airguns and lots of great and friendly folks that are eager to answer your questions and help in the decision. And yes, you certainly can invest enough in an airgun to buy SEVERAL Glocks. LOL
I know, I have around 60 airguns scattered all over my home.
The tactical/sniper look is appealing. But buy the airgun that will fit your shooting style and purpose. But hey, buy several to cover ALL aspects of shooting.
Anyway, enjoy the journey into airgunning. Be sure to ask any questions here and we will try to assist any way possible.

10 meters is a good range to start. It's a sport standard.

Sniper type (tactical)

For indoor shooting .177

B5-1 AK. folding stock, side lever, fixed barrel. Get one at mrodair.com. $90. Got some cool factor. You'll need a AK/SKS front sight adjustment tool. Accurate. Scope mount is strange but works fine. Might need a recoil pad for more pull length.

QB57 side lever, fixed barrel, break down bull-pup.(also some cool factor) Iron sights are useless. With a scope it's accurate. You'll need an off-set scope mount to get good eye relief. $100 give or take.

Ignite Black-ops. break barrel. Looks like a sniper rifle. Comes with a scope and bi-pod. $111 at Walmart. 1000fps might be a bit much for indoor shooting.

The first suggestion you got was a 953. $94, easy to shoot, can't miss at 10 meters.

If it was me, learn to shoot the gun I've got and the trigger I've got. Learn the artillery hold. And worry about modifications and big bucks later.

Enjoy. It's a great sport. Fun, relaxing, lots of zen if you like that kind of thing and good meditation for me.
