I saw over on the "yellow classifieds" a 124D for sale that has a "longer stroke for greater air volume sweep." I emailed the seller for either a link or more info but so far no reply. I googled it and didn't really locate an answer. Has anyone ever heard of this mod? Inquiring minds want to know.

I can't imagine what he means, but if you hear back let us know, I'd be interested on how he did it.

A modified 124/127 such as that i would be VERY cautious .... JMO
They already were classified as a long stroke action IIRC ?
With major mechanical parts long ago obsolete, and 124's being so sought after ... if it was so successful with such a mod ... need to ask WHY is it being sold ?

I wasn't trying to drag anyone over the coals, I just wanted to read up on the mod/method that was used. I always read about seals, mainsprings, metal triggers, muzzle brakes, lubes, stocks - you know the usual list of modifications done to almost every air gun/rifle. But this sounds different and I was just wondering what was the advantage gained.

Other than shortening the piston, what else can you do to gain volume?

Wouldn't the length of a parachute piston seal compared to maybe some type of o-ring seal also yield a shorter piston/seal scenario? I'm very happy with the JM seal/mainspring/lubes that I used in my own FWB124D. But I like reading about any and all types of mods for the old FWB124. I'm left wondering if this mod yields accuracy, speed or both or none.

It seems to long stroke a FWB 124, you'd have to either shorten the piston latch rod, or as you say Carlos, decrease the length of the piston seal buy cutting it down or running an o-ring seal. I've read of this increasing power potentially, though the larger bore rifles seem to get less of a bump than say smaller rifles with 25mm tubes. I'd be curious to know exactly what was done to that FWB 124 too and which route the tuner went.

Yes, I'd like specifics on what was done. You would have to change the length of the cocking arm if you changed the size of the piston and/or seal. I doubt that there is much you can do to increase air volume without major changes.
