2240 muzzle/front sight

I just got a new muzzle/front sight for my 2240.
How do I judge how far down the barrel to mount the thing.
My first try I blocked the tube where you put the CO2... I could not extract my spent powerlet.

I didn't bring allen keys to the range so I was without one of my fun guns.

Should I just try pulling the front assy. forward till the gas can fit?

Is there a bad thing going to happen with the gap that will be at the end of the gun?

Do I have to go back to my factory front sight?

as long as the muzzle sight set screws are on the barrel and theres no wobble it ll be alright . i would nt say put the grub screw all the way at the tip of the barrel but mabye 1/4" from the tip of the barrel. if u put the tip of the muzzle sight aginst the tip of the barrel all u have is a sight the gap  is what makes the muzzle work

As long as there is enough barrel inside the new brake to keep the brake centered, you should have no problems. 
The brake needs to be centered and aligned with the muzzle, so that the pellet will pass through the exit hole of the brake without clipping the side on the way out.  In some cases, if the bore of the barrel is not concentric to the outer diameter, the exit hole on the brake needs to be enlarged (usually with an ordinary drill).  This isn't hard, and you shouldn't worry about it, unless you notice your pellets are consistently flying off to one side or the other (or up or down, etc...)

The empty space within the brake, the gap in front of your barrel, will not have a negative effect on your shot.

Will this reduce the report? (the sound)
I just bought the thing because it is supposed to work with the Williams rear sight.

That worked fine,
I couldn't tell if it changed my report. I shoot at a range where they shoot firearms so I always have ear protection.
I am happy to get my game on with the 2240 again.
The gap is only about 3/4 inch. I guess the gun is longer too.
