I want to get a 2240 with a power adjuster, but I first want to know how much the power is and how many shots you get out of it. And then I've seen something about a hevier hammer spring and lighter trigger spring for a 1377.

2240's are rated at 460fps stock. If you do a search for 2240 power adjuster you'll get a bunch of threads about these mods and might want to PM some of them directly.

I was looking for 600 fps, enough so I can hunt squirrel close range and give a huge whack to keep them downed.

You can get that(600fps) with longer barrel like 19+ inches. Expect to get at least 30 full shots. The power adjuster is mainly for reducing power to get more shots for plinking. Hammer debouncer will also quiet down your shooter because it will minimize hammer bouncing after the pellet left the barrel plus more shots because of that.

You can also get a boss valve to up the FPS. If you are considering a longer barrel you may be best off getting a custom shop gun. The trigger is adjustable, and the base gun comes with a metal breach.

there are literally a ton of mods for just about every aspect of that gun. many many ways to get 600fps out of a 2240. if i were you, id get a gun from the custom shop, as mentioned,. you can get one with a longer barrel, modded trigger, power adjuster and choice of grips, as well as the steel breech for mounting optics. the stock 2240 comes with a cheap plastic breech that begs to be replaced. other ways to get more power out of the gun would be: boss valve from bryan & associates, heavier hammer spring, lighter valve spring, HPA conversion, long probe/flow through bolts, other various valve mods, transfer port mods, and/or any combination of..Many of the same mods are available for both the 3340 and 1377, as they are built on the same basic platform. I must warn you though, once you start modding a crosman pistol, you have then opened yourself up to a whole new addiction! lots of people build these guns because they are just great guns. there is a whole list of sites that sell parts for these guns. if you want a list of sites, pm me, or search the forum here. I have posted my list SEVERAL times so it could be found easily. good luck, and keep us posted.

once the monthly check comes, im getting:
24" barrel
2289 barrel band
760 sight
the steel breech is too much for me right now. ill look into it once i can get conger up $30.
i want to get the 1377 to shoot 700+ fps and the 2240 to shoot 600+ fps.
as for the 2240, it will be my first co2 gun ever.
anyone know how to take out the roll pin so i can install the new barrel?
and what does the lighter valve spring do? i heard it lets you pump more for extra power.

The flat top valve/piston set-up allows for more pumping i believe. you can begin to see what each part will do by looking at, and studying this photo. i have posted these before so you might have already seen them.

lighter valve spring on the 1377 just makes it eaiser to pump and eaiser for the striker hammer to release the air so u can pump it a few more times or alot if u get a heaiver striker hammer spring.thus increaseing the fps a bit.as the others said it is and will be an addiction if u like to shoot
