QB36-2, XS46U trigger

A while back, I posted a question about these triggers. They are not adjustable by any screws. I did the usual polish and lube on the trigger parts on my 36-2, but the trigger only got down to about 3.5-4 lbs., so here's the latest. I made a new trigger spring out of some music wire. The original was 4 coils of 0.040 wire. My new spring is 5 coils of 0.038 wire. The dimensions and configuration of the new spring are as close to the original as I could make them. The extra coil and slightly lighter wire give a considerably lower spring rate. The result is a very nice, consistent, 2.5 lb trigger pull. This is now a very usable trigger.

Very easy to do. Look up spring winding on Youtube. All you need is a wood block with a hole drilled in it for a 6D nail mandrel, a screw and washer to anchor the start of the wire, a wire cutter, and a needle nose pliers. No need for any heat treating.

I am going to look into trying this. I am a Machinist by trade. I do wonder how long a spring that is not heat treated will last .

I took a section of music wire and made a lighter trigger spring for my NVD oh, about 5,000 rounds ago. No heat treat involved.
