Switched Barrels for my FD PCP
«

I have a first generation .177 FD PCP I purchased the first week they went on sale. I also ordered an extra barrel in .22. I have so far used the .177 and today I have decided to switch barrels. What a DIFFERENCE!!
I now have extremely close groups up to 20 yards which is the longest distance I have in my backyard. The groups are about 1/3 of an inch. At 10 yards it's just one large hole. It's that good!! This little rifle is absolutely amazing. Good job Mike. Absolutely great job!!!!
But I was also told in no uncertain terms by my neighbor that he will the call the cops the next time I do some backyard plinking. The rifle is simply too loud and is alarming my neighbor that thinks it's a powder gun. I tried explaining to him that it was a pellet rifle. He would not listen or care.
So I am back to my previous inquiries about a decent and cheap LDC. I have already started asking about an LDC and the only decent option seems to be TKO. I want something that quiets the gun a little bit but that is cheap enough compared to the price of the gun itself. Anybody has an interesting option to suggest?

when it comes to dust collectors tko is the way to go. Ive reviewed sound bites, clips and meter readings and so far there is not another competitor or copier that comes close. I have a S-Rod and I keep checking in to when he restarts production on the S-Rod dust collector so I can order mine.

Sorry but, the loud report greatly increases the giggle factor for me. I am neighbor friendly but, if the it's not illegal and the guy won't even listen to reason, I would invite him to kindly go home and mind his own business. Then I would play my music really loud and gather all my rowdy friends for a cookout. Oh, and I would complain about all the foot traffic his wife has while he's at work. No, not really, I would buy a TKO. I have a feeling that may not even satisfy this guy tho. So, if any of you guys have been visiting his wife you might want to stop, it's about to hit the fan.

Get a large styrofoam cooler and build a quiet box:
https://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2009/03/how-to-quiet-the-big-guns-for-indoor-shooting/
I've seen larger, permanent setups at ranges done where you shoot through 5-10 tires instead for AR-15's and deer rifles.
I can shoot a .22LR through mine without my wife noticing, much less the neighbors.

I second that Avator. Its nice to live in the heart of Dixie where any gun is not given a second thought. I am in Oxford and shoot in my backyard and the loud crack of my PCP is definitely music to my ears. The tree rats don't really care for it. but the objections are short lived.

I used to have issues with my neighbors. but I let them cal the police several times, until the police finally wen to the callers house, to tell them " it's 100% legal in Virginia to shoot an air gun in your back yard". I have added several TKO brakes to the louder guns, and actually finally broke down and got one for my FD PCP, as it was louder than my Air Force Talon SS with an 18" barrel and one of Tony's shrouds. I know they cost almost as much as the FD, but what other PCP can you buy for even close to $100.00? Well worth every penny. Funny thing is mine would start out not that loud, then get very loud ner the end of my string. Funny how 1350 PSI is quieter than 800 PSI.
Casey
P.S. A piece of 7/8 - 1" outside diameter aluminum tubing, and some nylon "spacers" will work, but the cost of materials, and the 9/16" drill bit to make the mount with almost costs what one of Mike's brakes would. Just as a reference my FD with a TKO brake on it, you hear the hammer click, and a small puff. The birds don't even move from the feeders, or trees, it's really that quiet.

To all here
I have found a seller in Poland that sells silencers for air guns that either thread on the barrel like the hatsans and any other gun s with 1/2 x20 threads, he also sell ones that slide on the barrel and are secured by set screws. you can get them in 14mm and 15mm diameters .The 60C barrel is 15mm so he sells one that would fit. The one I bought for my hatsan 22 is 8 1/4 inches long and is made by hatsan for their guns and it cost 46 bucks shipped to my door. My hatsan does not even have the slightest hint of any report at all just a small tick sound and the pellet smacking the target
Please check out this site wolfairguns.com
He has many different one to choose from and they are half the price of a TKO, just no fancy carbon fiber but they work very well.
