Still Playing with the HW35

I took the rear peep off today.
I had the wrong front sight on anyway.
A fellow shooter up-loaded a PDF copy of a pamphlet written by D.R. Hughes back in 1972 and updated a few years later concerning owning, shooting and maintaining the HW35.
It is a great little pamphlet and HW35 owners can download a copy on the Weihrauch Owners Club Forum (actually I find it to be very valuable for other HW rifles as I also have a Beeman R1 which was developed by Bob, using the HW35 format).
I knew there were four slots (points of aim) on the rear sight blade, I just didn't know it was spring loaded and you could just turn the blade to the slot you wanted
There are two square slots-one more narrow than the other; a triangular one and one other, a slot in the shape of a half circle.
I suppose that one is used when you use the round dot front sight and the triangular one is for the pointed front sight blade.
Anyway with the square front sight, I chose the more narrow rear blade providing me with less wind-age on either side of the front sight blade.
While the HW35 was shooting extremely well set up the way the sights came the from the factory, now with less of a margin for error, it is simply fantastic.
I touched off about 200 shots and...
This little rifle has rejuvenated these old eyes.
It is shooting dead-on at 20 yards, regardless of the pellet used.
I see no reason to ruin the great lines of this fine little rifle with a scope.
IMHO

Frank,
See I said I would never scope that gun. Well so with the 35 and the 335 gone I tore into the new lock up break barrel the LGV to find the problem. Broken spring replaced and new tuning trigger set up and I don't miss the old girls so much. The LGV is incredible.

The HW35 reminds me why I first started shooting adult air rifles while in Berlin 1974-79...

I have an HW35 that I like to shoot more often. Problem is I don't have much time to shoot these days. I haven't mounted a scope on mines yet. Maybe I'll have to. My eyes are getting bad with age, and glasses aren't helping much.

Frank,
I think you should scope that old gal and really see what that rifle is capable of out to long distance! You can always take it back off if you don't like how accurate it makes her...
