Is this a good first pcp setup ??

I'm mostly a springer guy but have decided to try pcp. So I'm looking for info on if this would be a good first setup

Benjamin disco .22
Tko brake
Hawke sport hd 3x9x40 a/o mil dot
Leapers accushot high 1 in rings
13 cf pony bottle fron local sport chalet
Ninja scuba fill valve
I'm mostly interested in info on the pony bottles I'm thinking a 13 cf  because it will hold 3000 psi and is more transportable than an 80 cf  fills are a non issue as I'm certified diver up to eanx 32 (nitrox)
And can get them at the dive shop the 13 cf is also only $99 vs $209 for an aluminum 80 cf new
The gun will be used for small game hunting and occasional target shooting but mostly hunting

You will not be disappointed  You may want to get the bigger tank in the future for more fills. Getting the gun from Norm is a great step. He will treat you right Mine is powerful and very accurate {loves cphps] They are fun to work on too.

My first PCP was a disco and I shot many critters with it. Great gun, but be warned, they love to be modded and you can get carried away quick. I second the wanting a bigger tank in the future but get what gets you shooting for now.

I have quite a few tanks including the 13 and 19 cu ft pony.  If you already have other scuba tanks, you can refill your pony from them although not getting a full 3000 psi fill.  The 19 is still portable yet gives quite a few more airgun fills.  I bought adaptors so I can transfer air from my larger SCBA tanks to my smaller tanks which are more portable.

The 4500 psi SCBA tanks give so many more fills for the weight than do 3000 psi scuba tanks, but you need access to a compressor that can fill that high.

My favorite tank is the 4500 psi Guppy that Joe Brancato sells.  Several of my buddies have them and they are light and give lots of fills.  That type of tank combined with a compressor (like the Shoebox) and you're in great shape.

Ya think Tommy likes the Discovery?  Well, I do too.  This past season was my first full year hunting with the Discovery .22 that I purchased from Pyramyd Air.  The rifle/pump combo is what I chose.  I eat good!

I wouldn't bother with a 3000psi tank, get a 4500psi tank.

Correct me if I'm wrong as I don't know the breech clearance on the Disco, but could perhaps Medium profile rings be used on there? You don't want unnecessarily a high scope height if it can be helped. I know I needed high SportsMatch rings on my springers for 44mm scopes, but the dovetail grooves were in the receiver not protruding and the 44mm is just a bit bigger than 40mm. If possible, I'd go with Medium profile rings.

Other than that, that's a mighty fine first pcp set up you have there!

Laz, you might have noticed that Tommy has extended his stock in the butt plate area.  You may find the stock a bit on the short side once you get to do some hunting.  It is easy enough to do though.  Tommy would likely give you some pointers??

Isnt it great when they shoot cheap pellets like that? Mine loves the CPHP and the CPUM (ultra mags) give them a try

I have used medium rings on both my Marauders and my springers and no difficulty with access to the breech for loading or sliding a magazine into place you want to keep the scope as low to the barrel as possible

I like the MROD better, that being said I just tested my Disco at 3 different Power settings. The gun is pretty good for 20 shots. I put nuts on the power wheel so it doesn't move. Here are the results I got today.

I was seriously considering putting my Disco up on the classifieds, but with the fact that it shoots CPHP/Benjamin pellets so well, and I have 22 tins of these pellets, it just might have to wait. The Discovery is my only rifle that even thinks about shooting these pellets. As a side note I clean and lube these pellets.

So to the OP, go for it. The Disco is a good starter PCP, and is easy to hand pump.
