Benjamin discovery fill question
«
on:
August 11, 2014, 10:50:43 PM »
I have really been enjoying shooting my new Benjamin's discovery but having to pump it up every 20 shots gets kind of tedious. I have a couple old paintball tanks lying around and was wondering if I could fill from those with an adaptor?
I guess my question is can a discovery be filled with co2 from a regular paintball tank or does it need to have a higher psi output??

A disco can run on co2, but you need to empty the tube completely of air before you put the co2 in.
Your gauge has both co2 and high pressure air markings.
Co2 has a limited pressure it can be compressed to before it turns into a liquid.
The gun uses the co2 gas that boils off of the liquid co2.
You will need a fill adapter that connects the paintball tank with the foster connection.
When you fill the tube, you need to fill it with liquid co2, it will increase your shot count, but you will lose some velocity compared to air.
You can leave the paintball tank connected to the gun with a hose (called tethering)
It will allow you to shoot A LOT.
But you are leashed to the tank that way.
Hope this points you in the right direction..

I make 2 predictions;
ON THE DATE WHEN US TROOPS ARE ISSUED AN Energy Pulse Weapon,
1. The US Soldier will have on his person a version of the Colt 1911.
2. He will be aiming the NEW Weapon at someone carrying an AK47.

So with these two items, I could stay tethered without having to worry about over filling the tube?

I pulled this from the web, I think this is what you are looking to do.
While it isn't a discovery, the idea is the same.

Does the low psi output of the co2 tanks negate the need for a regulator on the tether? I might be wrong but I think one is required for tethering hpa

No as far as I know you don't need one for CO2 as its pressure never goes over about 1800psi.
(someone please correct me if I'm wrong)
Whether you need one for hpa depends on the pressure tank your tethering to if you tethering
to a 3000psi tank to a disco(2000psi)then a regulator is needed so you don't have valve lock
and possibly other very bad things...same goes if your using say 4500psi carbon fiber tank
you'll need a regulator unless your gun was designed to run on 4500psi of air
Hope that helps answer your question hopefully more people will chime in.

with CO2 yes you could stay tethered and it won't over fill the tube as the tube will only go
to the pressure of the CO2 which depends on the temp.as the disco was designed for CO2 it should be fine to run it tethered.

Just remember this that by using CO2, one of the downsides is waiting on cool down between shots or your fps will drop off. Take your time between shots and you wont have an issue.

Good point Gene! I was setting up a Crosman Challenger for a customer. He was going to be using CO2 and never have used CO2 myself I was scratching my head as to why the FPS of every shot over my Chrony was dropping.
I contacted Bob Sterne and he explained to me the ins and outs of CO2. He told me count to 15 between each shot and I should be OK.
That worked like a charm!
