Convert QB-79 to HPA or sell for BAM-50 dilema?

Well, thinking out loud here and wonder if you guys have had a similar predicament.
I am thinking about or I should say I most likely will convert the .177 cal. QB-79 I have to HPA. Since I bought the M-Rod it would be easier to have both guns running that way. I don’t like multiple plat forms per se. I would like to be able to pump both rifles…to me there is freedom in that and I don’t have to make runs to the SCUBA shop for CO2.
Anyway, in researching the Ninja bottles and the work I would have to do it would come close to the cost of a BAM-50 in .177. I have to say the BAM’s intrigue me. For their price they are a cannon right out of the box. Were I buy the bottle for the QB and put a new scope on it again that is pretty much the cost of the BAM from Mike Mellick.
My issue is I have a fair amount of money wrapped up in the QB. It’s been to two tuners, it’s very, very accurate with Beeman Kodiak Match, has a TKO and works well on the CO2 bottles. I know I can’t get what I have into it regarding the money, but I don’t want to give it away either to get the BAM.
Or am I just looking at this wrong and knowing the QB is great right now, the Ninja HPA bottle will just make it better? I am only looking to shoot the Kodiak Match’s at 800 to low 900 fps range.
Oh, I don’t want to own both. Ya it would be nice but I am looking to keep or make a powerful and super accurate .177 rifle for the usual “Project Mayhem” on Starlings and HOSP’s and target practice.
Just looking for opinions as maybe I am missing something.

When faced with the same decision, I chose to go with the QB79 on Ninja hpa. First, I already had the gun and most of the parts. Second, it was and still is a shooter. No questions about what I was getting as I already knew the gun. Third, I'm just a fan of the Qb series of guns. They are wonderfully tunable and easily fixed if broken. I don't know as much about the B50 series as I decided to stay with the QB and never bought the Bam-50.
If you're happy with the QB then I would stay with that platform. If you want to experience something different then now is a good time to explore other options. Either way, let us know what you decide and remember, we like pictures!

As an owner of a .22 B51 and bottled .22 QB78 and .177 QB79, I say go for the QB. You said already that it is accurate, and with a bottled rifle you'll enjoy higher shot count and regulated output is the cat's pajamas.
Don't get me wrong, I really like my B51 and the fit and finish is a higher class. Accuracy? All 3 rifles will do 1 to 1.2 MoA out to at least 50 yards consistently, no joke. Just ask the squirrels in the neighborhood. Well, good luck with that because they're in my deep freeze. So what makes me give the QB the nod is the regulation. Man, with the downrange consistency it provides, it's hard to go back to regular PCP's.

After owning both I would also head toward the about. I love my b-50 and find myself reaching more for it the the about when I'm hunting but I do like having more regulated shot than the b-50 allows but when my money allows it will be getting a reg.

Thanks guys...appreciate the opinions and now I am doing research on the "how-to's. Summer is here so going to run CO2 for a bit and save up for the HPA conversion

Sometimes we get ahead of ourselves
. After doing a boatload of pesting Sunday on a dairy farm. I was using the M-Rod and I let my friend use the QB as he didn't have a decent pellet gun to use. He was taking starlings and a few HOSP's up to 40 yards with ease. He made an excellent 30 yard shot on a female HOSP that had me and the other pester (who brought a .22 Edgun) laughing.
After all that shooting and John really enjoying the QB, it made me think that sometimes it is better to leave well enough alone. CO2 is cheap, the gun shoots really well on it and by the time I HPA the QB I almost have enough money for a BAM
.
Thanks again guys.

As far as HPA... I can't comment on that since I have no idea what the heck that is :-)
For the BAM B50 on the other hand. For the price, it can't be beat. Yes there are better rifles out there that will have lots of accessories, but for the price, the BAM B50 is untouchable in my opinion. To me it performs on par with pellet guns costing hundreds, even thousands more.

I have a few AG projects under my wing and money has been unusually tight lately as a result. I have a Crosman 150 out at Mac1 that needs repaired and I bought on an impulse buy and need another scope for my 1377 as I am giving my Red Dot to my older Brother to use on his 397.
Everyone who has contributed has made some good points that's why I love this forum.

Hey Bubba,
I just recently bought the XS-B50 from FD and plan to tune it with a regulator
, .................ETA 6/16.
The idea of regulating it allowed me to rate it above the QB's, which I looked very nice too.
Since I will likely do all the work myself and don't know much about tuning PCP, this is a longer term project for me
.
This Summer I will just shoot the Hatsan springer's until I digest enough information to move ahead with the B50, regulated tune.
I'd stick with what works now and move on the B50 or 51 when more funds are available, maybe a Winter project
.
My two cents,
Kirk
