If one knows the MOA of a shot group at 20 yds. can one project it out to 50 yds. with a formula?

1 MOA at 100 yards is about 1".

1 MOA at 50 yards is about .50"

1 MOA at 20 yards is about .20"

And so on.

It's not exact, but pretty close.

Yes, as in the previous post, but it's unlikely that you'll be able to shoot those calculated long range groups in real life. Minor differences in hold, pellets, wind, etc., get worse as the range increases

 Pretty close as the previous and second post mentioned.

 Minute of Angle= 1.047" @ 100 yards. Just to remember 1" is so much easier.
 
 at 50 its .5235" but saying its .5 is so much easier.

 Setting it up as proportions is so much easier...

Yep . . . what the guys said earlier.

You can do a proof using some simple formulas if you want to know why 1 MOA is the numbers they gave you at different distances. But its not really needed to use them.

Ha.. And then you have Mrad or mil etc.. Joking aside, it is easy to aim small up close.. The further out you get the harder it is to aim small and not get wind drift. ES is NOT in play at short ranges, but it is a deal killer at longer ranges..

So in a nut shell, shooting x MOA or mraid at 20y, is not going to equal the math at longer ranges. Give yourself some room to fudge.. But you better off confirming your longer range than guessing
