Help I’m going in… Internally that is!

I’ve recently gotten a 2289 backpacker and have done some external modifications including an 18” barrel, steel breech, Benjamin Discovery breech sleeve, Benjamin Discovery rear sight, fiber optic front sight,  Benjamin Discovery longer bolt probe, attached the Crosman ammo pouch to the shoulder stock and added a homemade cheek rest.  The gun is looking great and I love the fiber optic sights.  Just need to get them dialed in.  I’m getting quarter sixed groups at 33 feet.  I also got a Leapers UTG Bug Buster scope for it but right now I’m really digging the open sights. 

I would like to get a little more power out of it with out pumping it more then 15 times. I don’t have much for tools or a work bench so I’m getting parts fabricated by AC Customs. 

Here is what I’m going to get for $75.00.

1.  Flat Top Piston with brass head, a stainless steel nut, and a 6061 aluminum body with a delrin
     sleeve with 3 O-rings.
2.  Flat top valve with the following mods done:
     -exhaust port has been angled.
     -stem has been turned to improve flow.
     -faced.
3.  Power Hammer Spring
4.  13xx Stainless Non-slip Pump Pin
5.  Lighter Trigger Spring w/Guide
6.  Stainless Slotted Breech Screw

I know I’ll have to drill the pump pin holes a little bigger, clean them and the pump tube thoroughly before installing the new parts.

Would a Hammer Spring Power Adjuster be needed or worth the investment of $35.00 - $50.00??

Any other suggestions, do’s or don’ts??

Do you really think you need a power adjuster when you can adjust the power by the number of pumps???     

Save your money and spend some time cleaning and polishing the inside of the air tube so you get a good seal on that new piston, it is even a good thing to do on a stock gun.

Well, I’m kinda new to the air gun stuff so I really don’t know if I need the power adjuster.  I was thinking it could be used to fine tune velocity by adjusting preload on the hammer spring and maybe help dump all the air from the tube.  After some more reading it seems like the PA isn't really needed, may work better on PCP or co2 guns.
