No Joy for me this weekend. update,or is there?

Been tracking my BSA R10 Mk 2. Set up for delivery on Saturday. Pay extra shipping on the fitting for the fill adapter so it might be here Saturday. The fitting got here by USPS. Fedex normally here by 11:00am. They run on Saturday here because they don't run on Monday. Checked this morning. On vehicle for delivery. Checked again about 11:10. Still on Vehicle for delivery, Now for Tuesday. This forum won't let me type how I really feel so I want even bother.  Shooting table set up outside, bag, pellets, scope and tools for mounting, Air tank filled to 4500 psi, targets set up and no BSA R10 MK 4 thanks to Fedex deciding not to deliver today. Would have been nice to know this yesterday and I would have made other plans.
Done ranting now.

Now to pack everything back in.

This is crazy but good. Found out Fedex was open today. Took a package I needed to ship up there. Checked on my delivery. Was sent to another location. They tracked it down. Said there was a glitch in the system that changed the date when scanned this morning and it's out for delivery. Now 15 miles back home because nobody is there lol.

Found a long brown box on my doorstep when I got home.

When I got my Diana 470th computer said "out for delivery". Didn't come. Later computer said "delivered". Drove 15 miles to the UPS terminal and they didn't have a clue. Halfway home they called my cell. Went back and picked it up.

when my 392 arrived -I was really really looking forward to it-one of those Amazon super short deals-$109 delivered
anyway I checked tracking several times a day

well one day-about 1:35 pm-it said delivered side door 12:45 pm
well no freakin way-we have the world's LOUDEST greyhound(they aren't a barking breed but Arty forgot to read her breed specifications)
Arty raises the roof whenever the bell is rung or mail box tampered with
No noise and hey-we DON'T HAVE A SIDE DOOR
anyway no box-I hunt the neighborhood-go to other streets-same number-couldn't find a box
called UPS CS person says she called driver-as we spoke-he insists it is at side door(which we don't have)
CS person-says have seller make claim to find it-but you have to wait 36 hours??
well 3:15 pm- the ARTY ALARM goes off Arty barking slathering growling-
go to door-there is box-UPS driver walking down driveway tells me he went back to the house he left it aT-few streets over
So all is well that ends well(sorta)

That's good news! 
FedEx has done that to me at least 1/2 dozen times.  Most of the time when they change the date the last day (or 2) before delivery, it was the correct one and I didn't get the package when it was supposed to arrive.  But once or twice even after they changed the delivery date on their web site, it still showed up on the original date.  That's FedEx for you.  I rarely have that issue with UPS, or maybe I have just been luck with UPS.
That's what happens when you get too big or get a large share of the market.  Customer satisfaction diminishes when you are grossing $47B/year...  They made $2B more than the year before, but that's because they keep raising their rates when gas prices are the lowest in 15 years... go figure.

FedEx Smartpost...not quite sure how they figure it's "Smart" to take it off the big truck, put it on a small one, deliver it to the local post office, who then delivers it to me and takes 2 extra days when that same truck coulda just delivered it 2 days sooner straight to me instead

If someone only offers Smartpost I'll go elsewhere.  Watched an item fly down to Dallas overnight and then get shuffled around the Dallas area to a few places, sit for a couple days, then make it's way to the local post office.

Just a quick comment on smart (yeah, right!) post.  In my town the packages reach the UPS terminal in the early morning hrs.  Maybe 3-4:00 am.  They get sorted and taken to the Post Office, maybe 3-4 miles away AFTER the carriers have left for their routes, late mprning.  There is no reason they can't be there earlier!  If the UPS's little song and dance happens anytime around the weekend there's no telling when your package gets there.  USPS, I think, is the only carrier that moves and delivers 7 days a week at standard rates.  I'm lucky, having worked 31+ yrs for the post office and lived here all my life.  I've got 'connections' within the system including my next door neighbor, who still works as a clerk for the Post Office and has been known to bring my smart posts to me when he comes home for lunch.

I still like walking into a store, getting what I want, talking to the clerks, and taking my stuff home.  In the AG world, those days are, for the most part,  gone..............the Mailman
