Anyone know what the finish is on the wood from the early 70's era Racines?

IINM it was described as "oil finish"

if you strip that 70s sherri down when you restain try watco Danish oil .....good stuff   I mix mine at 2 parts walnut and 1 part cherry.....

Yes, it strips really easy.

Not sure what I am going to do yet. It may be blasphemy but I don't want to do 10,000 coats of Tru-Oil.

LOL! I know it is CW but too many irons in too many fires.

i had what i thought was good luck with the royal london oil. sanded to 400 and about 4 or 5 coats rubbed in good. i didnt want it to be too shiny and new, but rather a nice smooth satin finish. nothing wrong with a gloss or semi gloss finish. just not what i was after here. i made no effort to sand it down to perfection either. that would have taken away from what i was trying to achieve.

I like the looks of the finish. I don't like gloss finish wood. it seems to make the wood fake IMO. your mileage may very.
