Hello everyone, I wanted to share some pictures of my recent upgrade to fiber optic sights on my Silver Streak and Super Grade. They really improve my ability to hit the target. My old eyes just have a hard time these days using standard iron sights. Most of my PCP's and Break barrels have scopes, but I love combining the FO with a peep sight in order to keep these awesome pumpers light weight for field carry. Let me know what you think and if you have done this also. Scott

Man, I just wanna reach into my screen and grab that SG ... lol
Good job on the FO mods. I remember you saying that everything you do to the SG is reversible. I mean, it's your gun but, I hope you are sticking with that. To me it would be near blasphemy to permanently alter an SG.

Hi Bill, thanks for the comments. I know!!! I'm so lucky to have scored this SG. It just ooze's solid quality. Yes, like my other modes, the fiber optic sight is held in by the same tiny drift pin that secures the original blade sight. Can be changed back in two minutes. I simply purchased a truglow sight from Midway USA and milled it down to fit the slot in the sight ramp.
Terry, the globe sight is one of many I had left over from my springers that now have scopes on them. I think it was an R7 but not total sure of that. I chose one that needed the least amount of milling to make it fit over the barrel after filing down the original blade sight. I then tapped two holes on each side of the globe mounting base and used small set screws to secure it to the barrel. I did drill a very tiny divot into the barrel for the set screws to capture, so it would be super secure. Then I simply ordered the truglow, match fiber optic threaded insert sight, from Midway USA. They come in two thread diameters. (17 & 22 mm), and just screw into the front of the globe, after unscrewing the knurled nut that usually holds in the globe inserts. This one is the 17mm
These FB sights just "light up" when shooting out doors, or under indoor lights. LOVE them!!!

Terry, I like your post about using the number of pumps to keep the same POI at various distances. I discovered that as well, and it also makes total sense. Good advise man

Hey Bill, I see you own a Crosman 1400? I have two, (2nd and 3rd gen) 1400's on the way. I'm planning to do my usual stock refinish, and add the white lined recoil pad. I've also ordered from Midway, a fiber Optic ramp sight to replace the stock one using the same screw that secures the stock one. Also planning to drill and tap the receiver to mount a Williams peep on it. I'll be using the same peep that's designed for the Dans, except I'm mounting it backwards on the left side of the breech, to avoid the bolt.
Anyway, I've never owned a Crosman pumper other than a 1377 pistol. I've read great things about the 1400, except that the trigger gets harder to pull the more pumps you put in. I'll probably only be using 5-6 pumps most of the time for my shooting style. What is your opinion of this gun, and how bad is the trigger? Can it be moded?
Thanks, Scott

I really like my 1400s I have one with the bolt and one with the slide collar. They are self cockers and do get a harder trigger pull with increased pump numbers. At 5 - 6 pumps it's not that bad. I'm not sure if there is a mod to lighten them, I never tried. Like my Dans, I never really have the need to pump it to full power but, if you do, these things are hammers. A notable power increase over a 140. I prefer the bolt version over the slide collar. When I got the bolt version it had been neglected and the barrel had a pellet and some corruption stuck about halfway down it. I've repeating cleaning and shooting and accuracy continues to improve. It began at half dollar in 30yds and it's closer to a nickle now.

Thanks, good to know. These two that I have coming are both bolt. I prefer the looks of the bolt. One is the thick stock, the other the thin version. Like you, I will hardly ever pump up past 5-6, other than to check the velocity up to eight.
I'll post some feedback after I get them and try them out

Altho I have an indoor 30 yd range, outdoor unlimited, PorChrono Digital w/usb to laptop and lights and a partner who is happy to sit and shoot with me as long as we want to, I'll be the first to admit that I am the World's greatest procrastinator when it comes to reviewing, recording and posting results on the forum. We're probably down to 75 guns from 100+ now and I still have to try different pellets to find most gun's favorites each time we shoot them when all it would take is a pen and journal. But hey, I'm only 60 yrs. old... I have plenty of time to get it right.
