Help, 1377 Rear Trigger/Grip Assembly Screw Stripping

Hey Guys,

I'm new to the site and to the hobby and I'm running into my first problem.  I'm doing some upgrades and looking to replace the small trigger ball everyone loses, but the screw head is stripping.  It is the rear/bottom screw head, the flathead / square head one (#32 in the exploded parts sheet).  I started with a flathead screw driver (all i had at the time) but noticed it stripping.  Then went to the square bit, and that is starting to stip as well.

Anyone have some ideas on how I can get this screw out without damaging the gun?  I have a replacement screw set, so I don't care about the screw.  Thanks for any assistance!

If the screw head is toast, you pretty much will have to drill off the head or slot it with a Dremel bit for a flat head screwdriver. Not a routine task considering where it is located. Work slowly.

drill it very carefully... and the MINIMUM amount you can, to get the head of the screw to pop off.
Then you can remove the breech, and there should be just enough of the shank protruding, to grab it with visegrips. then you should be able to get it out.

it maybe easier to grind the head then do like ron said..diassemble and enough should be sticking out to grab.

Thanks much for the replys guys!  Greatly appreciated.  I think I'm going to go the drill route, not sure my hands are steady enough to want to try and grind the head.  Seems the drill route is the better option for me.
