Hatsan died?

Hello everyone! I've had a 85 vortex for a couple of months now and have loved shooting it. I went to shoot it over the weekend and when I went to cock it, there was no resistance when cocking. The gun made a faint shooting sound and I could actually hear the piston moving slowly inside the gun. Did the gas piston go bad or do these things leak? Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Yep! Sounds like the ram is bad. Contact Hatsan Dan @ Hatsanusa.

When I was flipping a coin between a spring and Vortex I talked to Rick from gun web to get his .02 and he said ya they have had a issue here and there but over all way better than the Crosman Trail line has had. Took a chance and got a 125 sniper Vortex. I would say contact Hatsan USA it should still be covered. If I run into issues down the line I'll just get a spring and put in mine, I'm still not convinced a "ram" is a up grade but I figured I'd try it. I know Rick said they might can be rebuilt, however you would have to destroy it to get it a part to fix it, just doesn't sound good

Thanks for the suggestions! I filled out the contact form at hatsanusa and i'm waiting to hear back. Hopefully they'll just replace the bad part and give me the same gun back. I don't want to have to start over again with the break in process!

Had a seal go bad on my spring powered Sniper after 900 pellets. The AR was sent to Hatsan and received a new one a week later.

I've called twice a day since Monday and filled out the online warranty form and can't get anyone to contact me back! How did you get in touch with them?

Got it! His email went to my spam and I didn't notice it. Super friendly guy and they are going to replace the vortex piston with a new one. Thanks everyone!

I have had really good experience with the people at HatsanUSA. If you have documentation of your purchase within less than a year, they will fix it or replace parts ... provided it is "stock" (which means you haven't been tinkering in the guts). If you've had the air rifle for more than a year, lost your documentation, or done "do-it-yourself" mods ... then they will do it for an "hourly" price (which includes deburring, replacing seals, replacing broken things) -- and it will shoot wonderfully!!

I got it back a few days ago. I'm guessing they replaced the gas piston because there was no documentation stating what had been done. Shoots great again so no complaints!
