Which would you choose?

I looking into a target type rifle.  I have had my eye on a Airforce Edge but I have also been glancing at the Crosman Challenger 2009.  Can any owners of these step up and give me some pros and cons of each?

Anyone?  Lol.  Well Wally World has the Challenger w/ sights for $479!  Thats cheaper than PA without the sights. So if its still at this price next week that might be my choice.  Even though the Edge looks realky cool the ol mighty dollar shall prevail

The Challenger 2009 is reported to be more accurate than the edge.
IMHO, the Edge has better potential, if AF can get the accuracy issues worked out.  And it may simply be a different barrel spec.

They are both LW barrels so the accuracy issue is weird.  But the price at Wally World is nuts so I might try it there

I think AF may have a different spec.  From what I read, the AF barrel works better with a LARGER diameter pellet, which leads me to believe that AF speced and bought a barrel with a bore just a bit larger than normal. 

Also the Edge seems to want to be above a certain pressure in the tank. 

But all this is from what certain (usually unhappy) users posted.  One rarely hears the good feedback.

IMHO, the AF Edge is going thru the same new gun bugs and issues that Crosman had with the original Challenger.  If they can work out the bugs, I think they have a winner.

What kind of shooting are you planning to do?
Is it casual 10m target shooting, or do you have ideas of competing in local matches?
If you plan to compete, you NEED to find out the rules of the matches.  You would be at a severe equipment disadvantage if you were to use the Challenger in a precision class match.

Right now it is just casual matches here on GTA and plinking and paper punching here at home.  Idk of anywhere around me that has matches and if the did they are probably FT which I have the Mrod for if I get the itch

Don't own either but have shot both.
Hands down I would choose the Challenger.
Much more accurate in my hands than the Edge. (and all those who passed them around that day)
My only complaint on the challenger is the rear sight.
I think the Edge rear sight was better quality, maybe a different iris on the challenger would help,
but I was accustomed to used to using sights that cost almost as much as the rifle.

I firmly think the challenger's more traditional stock is a better choice, as you get accustomed to shooting standing,
you may want to add some weight to it.
The rifle is capable of shooting better than most humans.
Neither rifle is a FWB or Anschutz, but your not paying 2 grand+ either.

For what you are planning to do with it it should serve you well.

Just my 2 cents.

Edit: As far as using it at a "precision class match" I would not be afraid of using it. The only disadvantage would be the shooter.
This rifle is capable of shooting tens all day if the shooter can hold it.
I speak from experience, won many NRA smallbore matches shooting a self modified Ruger 1022 loaded singily against the
Anschutz and FWB rifles,, it's mostly the shooter. When I did get beat, it wasn't the rifle that beat me, it was the shooter holding it.
I knew my rifle/ammo combination was fully capable of holding the X-ring on a 50 and 100 meter smallbore target.

Many of them kind of snickered when they saw me set it up on the line, most had never seen apertures and a bloop tube on a ruger.
They didn't snicker when they saw the targets after a stage.

If you get the Challenger.
Be proud of it,
Learn to shoot it well
Never be afraid to shoot it against anyone.
