Just wanna know if I'm the only one that has a real gun as well. The difference is amazing. Winchester super X's are 40 grains of copper jacketed lead going 1200fps. Out of a rifle anyways.

Shame on you!!!! "real gun", indeed! Yep, got lots and lots of them thar real guns. Don't let the numbers fool you into going after Kodiak with gun. ;-)

I would bet almost everyone here has a "real" gun, meaning a powder-burner. I would bet most have several, but came to realize they could shoot every day with air, instead of going to a range.

I think of the move to air as sort of a graduation. Once you embrace air, you are ready for serious precision shooting... which only helps when you visit the range with the noisy smokey things again. I am a much better shooter overall thanks to airguns!

Heck I love all my guns

both powder burners as well as my air rifles.

I have a really nice Izmasch CM-2 that will take out clay pigeons at 200 yards every time. And can hit a gong, 15 inch in diameter, at 300 yards if I take my time.

Heck I have done more shooting and hunting with my .22's than alot of other people around my area. They are great fun and extremely cheap to shoot

Let's see do I have any .22LR powder rifle's here Hmmm let me see "yep" 8 of them, should I count the revolver's an pistol's in .22LR? HW-1 if you want a real fast 40gr .22cal bullet get you a 22-250 it will clock them at close to 4,000fps an will vaporize's small game as far as you can shoot.

Marlin 39A lever action.
Incredibly accurate.
My wife, who has never shot a gun in her life (she is now 45), went with me to the range last month, and she was hitting precisely on the Shoot-N-C the target marks I told her to hit @ 25 yards; and I'm talking about spots of 1/2".
That was with the non-target Winchester Wildcat ammo sold at any Wal-Mart or Meier's.
Micro-Groove rifling really makes a difference.

I got an old Marlin ~~Glenfield~~ Model 60 22LR with open sites. Got it on a trade for a Saturday night special that I couldn't keep in NYS without a permit. Shot the 22 one time and now it sits for 20 years.♠

Edit: Did some research and discovered that the Glenfield name was only used for 60's that were sold at discount stores.

the glenfield marlin 60 huh? does it have the little squirrel carving in the stock at the bottom of the grip? lol. I have a marlin model 780, that is from the 80's glossy refinished stock with beautiful grain pattern and metalwork that looks as if it just came off the line yesterday!!! not a single scratch or shard of rust on or in the entire gun. metal so perfectly polished and smooth that you can almost see your reflection in it. and i can hit a 2" bullseye about 95% of the time from 50-60 yds.

I will never sell this one boys! I also have found that air rifles are much more fun for me. every kind of gun has its time place, but I can shoot my airguns anytime that I want to. As much as I'd love to shoot the marlin more often, It is a hassle to go to the range or to a remote area where no one will mind the noise etc. air is just more convenient for me. especially sice I have no license, lol. I don't get out much anymore.....

Silly me. I totally missed where you said it was a 60. Nice stock guns. Triggers aren't the best but they are quite accurate out of the box. Very few mods for them and you need to keep the receiver clean every so often. It's good that they are come-as-you-are guns since you will use the time shooting normally spent on mods. (How many 10/22 owners find that "bench time" is really "work bench time"?)

My 22 is a mossberg and sons bolt action 22 that has been in my family since the 1930's. It's a $&:; nice rifle for as old as it is.

Mossberg's slogan was "More gun for the money". As someone once remarked, Mossberg's are like hookers - a lot of fun but you wouldn't want to take her home to mother. I have two, myself.

" Real guns" indeed. How about muzzleloaders? I've fired many of them and built a bunch more. The flintlocks are quite different to shoot compaired to percussion...squeeze the trigger, wait a split second for the powder in the pan to ignite the main charge then there's the wait for all the smoke to clear to see if you've hit your target...lol. Sometimes the " real guns" are more fun to shoot than just loading a ready-made cartridge in the chamber.

The Remington 552 Speedmaster, 150 year anniversary edition, was given to me many years ago, for payment on a welding job I did for a local gunsmith. She shoots good but the trigger doesn't impress me. Sure wish they made drop in triggers for them like the Ruger 10/22 does!

It's my first powder burner as a kid and it's still my main nutter-getter. A late 1950'sclip fed Winchester 77.

There's a big belly laugh-out-loud! I suspect, as a group, you will find the members of the GTA to be well-armed in all respects. But "real guns" have the same primary purpose as air rifles (being able to stand over here and drill a hole over there), and both depend on the skill of the shooter to do so. My air rifle collection is pretty darned "real" as is my firearm collection, I assure you. And my skill with firearms has improved immensely now that I very frequently shoot air rifles and keep in practice.
