Ok, I've only had my XS25 .22 for about a month. Been shooting it about everyday and really liking just about everything about it. Now I've got the urge to get something more lightweight and compact in a CO2 rifle. The QB78 .177 seems to be the perfect addition. ( Keep one gun at home and one at work)

The rifle won't be used for target practice that much, just used for pest control. Cartridges should work out just fine for occasional shots at squirrels or blackbirds from the deck or four wheeler.

I have talked with Mike a little bit and he can do anything I want to have done to the rifle. For what I'm using it for what do you guys think would suit me? Stock rifle, basic tune or full tune?

If anyone an elaborate a little on your QB78 setup I'd appreciate it.

I'd have Mike kick the velocity up to about 700 fps and I would have him tune it. I base this on my AR 2078B, it has a lower velocity and that is O. K. with me. Mike gave it his basic inspection / tune. I really enjoy punching paper with it. It I were going for pests, I'd like a bit more velocity.

I would consider a scope and base also. When it is all said and done, you will know the money was well spent.

Thanks Bob. I asked Mike about setting the velocity to 700-750 and he said that wasn't a problem. Did you get the Basic Tune or the Full Tune?

For pesting and hunting I'd get one in 22 cal and ask him to tune it for power. The accuracy of these guns is nothing short of amazing when they are done right, and Mike does them right. I would though suggest asking Mike if he can make sure the barrel band will hold the barrel securely as this is sometimes a problem.

My AR2078B has MM's no cost inspection / correction tune. If I were having MM increase the muzzle velocity I would talk to him about a full tune and get his take on it. Don't be penny wise and dollar foolish, consider it as insuring your investment. You won't regret it. As a thought, I would consider a QB78 Deluxe it has a slightly heavier barrel.

Depending on the distance to those back yard critters, may not need a max tune (speed uses gas, so you'd get more shots with a medium tune). A .22 in the 12-13 foot pound range works fine out to 40-50 yards (which is a very big back yard).

I'd probably ask for a smooth-up and a mild tune to the 12-13 foot pound area. Smooth working, mosre shots, a bit quieter. May be a co2 gun, but generations of Benjamin/Sheridan shooters/hunters seem to have done quite well at that energy level.

I have a QB78Deluxe with full tune from Mike in .22. I regularly take out nutters and chippers out to 30 yards. That's as far as my needs are from where I shoot. I have a 3 x 9 x 40 scope and a bi pod on it. I recently added a TKO and the gun is VERY accurate.

I was thinking a 177 would have plenty of power because I killed 3 squirrels with my old Daisy 120 @ 450 fps and old cheap Daisy wadcutters. I had pass throughs with it. Trouble with the Daisy is that the trigger is terrible and hard to hit close to the same place twice. If a 22 would be better that's what I would want.

What kind of velocity are you getting with the full tune?

Mine was getting around 695fps with 14.3gr JSB pellets when it was .22.

Higher temps would be better.

Thanks for all the replies. Even though I've been shooting, hunting and cartridge reloading for 35 years, air rifles are a whole new ball game for me and all opinions are appreciated.

The QBs are a great choice for your application and should the HPA bug bite you, they easily convert to HPA.
