xs28 noise, solved.you may be amused.

well, i had a sudden "buzz" in the b28 so we underwent our first spring change.
managed to cobble a pretty good spring compressor out of a black and decker workmate and a pipe clamp.
the new spring and seal were here and i was ready to go.
I was surprised at just how easily the gun came apart....yup...easy as pie.
this was gonna be a cake walk.

replacing the piston seal was not as hard as i thought it would be....maybe 15 minutes..
putting it back together proved to be a little  harder to
do.
those pins just were not going in....gggrrrr....if I HAD A DOLLAR  for every time a tool or part shot out of me slippery hand from all this moly....how did it get EVERYWHERE!
phew....finally all back together....SAFTEY DOES NOT WORK...
take off the cocking arm...put it back in the crummy half ashed compressor...
drop a few tools ....the flashlight......pop out a pin wiggle the safety around a bit back in the right spot...PERFECT!!!
Put the gun back together go to cock it...oh look, forgot to put the handy cocking arm back on....
sigh...
its hot, its late. the kid across the street has his bass so loud on his car stereo the windows in my house are shaking and the dog want to play ball...AND I"M COVERED WITH THIS GREASE!!!
well i get it all back together and cock it and so far so good i load it up and "BLAM"!!! IT WORKS!!!   NO BUZZ!!!   YAY ME!
now heres the part i left out.
 the 2nd time I put in my awesome spring compressor
 i decided to take off the rear sight  so it would fit better.
thats when i noticed one of the rear sight screws was not the least bit screwed in.... rattling around inside the sight...
something like that....bet that would make a bit of a sudden "buzz"....
sigh.... that my friends, is the story of my life.
let this be a lesson to all of you...

We all make mistakes when we do things ourselves.  I notice if I don't do anything I don't make mistakes.  I take that back sometimes doing nothing could be a mistake.  Go figure

Look at the bright side. 
You learned how to take your rifle apart and you rebuilt it with better parts.
Now you don't have to worry about it for a few thousand shots.

normally i have the 3 strike rule , if i get it togather in less than 3 times its gonna break down soon as i surely missed something in just 2 times haha been there did that too stevemag

I don't think that rear screw would generate the buzz you heard. Easy enough to find out, just loosen it again.

At any rate, the gun will reward you with better power and consistency with the new seal and spring, so it's worth it.

yes. i can brake that gun down now with out a problem.  gonna do again tonight since i got some grease in the chamber somehow. smells like an oil truck on fire when i shot it.

  Wow I'm jealous I still have to break down my 460 for a lube and clean up after I finally  got it dialed in problem now I know how it should sound with a complete tune. The 54 I just picked up has a barely audible whisper of  twang and cocking is a smooth as butter within a few days you can read all about in the german gate now back to the XS good luck and enjoy
