i was looking at m&g's site and looked at the parts page in the manual. it sure looked the same as a stoeger x-5,trigger is direct sear and the safe button looks exactly the same. im now wondering if m&g farmed the 240 out to china and mabe that is why a stoeger x-5 is so much better that the usual chinese made guns. i like my x-5 and after seeing the 240 it looks like 1 is paying a lot for the diana trade mark . correct me if im wrong as i usually am.

I haven't seen a X5 in person, but I'd bet money that they aren't the same..

i like it real well as its all i was wanting and got a good 1 so i hope . i looked at the parts page on both guns and all parts looked the same . triggers looked identical as well as the safe button. but for 89 dollars its a very pleasent gun for when you want to just set back n plink . i have a nice but pricy hw -55 but i want to keep it nice as they keep goin up in price. as for accuracy its better than i am. it dont seem pellet picky either. id say its between a kids gun and an adult gun.i need to scope it but its fine open sites. i am gettin the crony out today and se what she is doin. id buy another if needed. it sems way above the usual chinese gun level to me. fit n finish is excellent too

I had a Diana 240, Detuned to Canadian specs, sub 500 fps.
The wood on that gun, was the nicest wood on any gun I have ever had. Had the Typical Diana quality, solid lockup, great accuracy, had a direct trigger.
The trigger was stated to be around 5 pounds, sure didn't feel like it to me, Nice pull and break for a direct sear.
Accuracy was great, for a little pea shooter, was quite surprised with it. Although it was under powered, it was most accurate with JSB Diabolo stratons 16gr.
Longest shots were on empty pop cans across the pond on my buds farm....62 yards.
Holdover was the below the last mildot on the scope, it was where the arrow of the reticle meets the thin line.
Took scores of sparrows with it up to 25 yards, very easy to shoot, actually miss that gun.
Gave it to my Buds son, for all the times he let me use his farm when he had it, figured it was the least I could do.
The Boy uses it up north, at their cottage in restoulle.

i was looking at the parts layout diagram of a diana 240 and lots looked the same as a x5 . i never helt a 240 but i do know diana had some company in china to build a lot of barrels for them. i thought they might have had the chinese makers build the metal works and then put thier own wood on in germany .

if the x3 is a xs12 then it is a great gun. I have 2 xs 12, one in .177 and the other a double deuce... the .177 has a b26 trigger adapted to it and will shoot like my R7. it pushes the rws super h points at 599 fps +-2. great bird gun. when i got the gun i noticed heavy tar use on the spring and i know that is slowing it down. a couple of years back i tested another b12 and that one shot hobbies at 645 fps. but it was not as smooth. The .22 is a revelation... it is silent, like dead quiet. it will shoot RWS hobbies 11.9 at 525 fps all day long and it is the bane of all starlings locally. I see the pellet in flight and it connect with the birds with the nastiest slap. And for backyard fun, it will slam cans really hard (but barely penetrate ) and leave some large dents... fun little carbine. cocking effort is negligible. my 12 year old daughter cocks it like nothing.

opps i was saying x-5 but its nice cocking and i have to wonder if they just shortened the stock and put a lower powered spring in? they look alike but weigh a little less . i did a little to the sear in my x5 and now its a nice plinkin gun. i have a mendoza rm 377 i like too and the x5 is just behind the mendoza on power . both are nice plinkin guns. i got the x5 so my daughter and i could shoot close equil guns but switching back n fourth as her school is thinking about introducing pellet gun matches next year . she needs to keep in practice. but if and when they do have them i will let her use my cherished old daisy 853c that has a lw barrel. i had this gun for a long time and still looks new .unless she has preference on which gun she uses . also the idea of a backup gun just in case 1 breaks is a good idea , so being able to shoot good with more than 1 gun is a good idea too
