Turkish Webley Patriot barrels. Are they all the same (now solved)...

I just realized something while I was reading another thread a few moment ago...
I have 3x Webley Patriots - 2 of them are Turkish made, one in .177 and the other in .25 cal...
The .177 I bought so cheaply I couldn't turn it down. The guy just didn't want a rifle that he bought and never used, so it's a brand new 3 year old rifle. However, I personally think that .177 at these velocities is just all wrong - too much for the calibre and for the gun.
The .25 I bought from a guy who refitted it with a less powerful spring and new seal, since the original seal cr*pped itself shortly after he bought it and you couldn't get replacement springs. It is a little less powerful than the English .25 Patriot because of the new spring but very sweet to cock and fire.
The thought just popped into my head that I could swap barrels between the two guns - couldn't I..??
That "should" give me a much more full power .25 calibre Turkish Patriot and a slightly less powerful .177 Turkish Patriot that I'd feel more comfortable shooting. I know the .25 English Patriot gives about 28 ft-lb, the Turk .25 gives about 22 ft-lb, but the .177 Turk, I have never fired, nor will I in .177 calibre. This could kill two birds with one pellet, so to speak...
It's late and I'm tired so I going horizontal (or I'd mess around with them right now to find out) but,, are all their barrels the same external dimensions..??

The Turks make a great air rifle. and a great spring. I have a 30 + year old Webley from england and it now is prowd owner of a Turk spring.
it had three brit springs all ready the two replacement were realy &^^&. thanks Beeman. The turk spring came from a winchester 1000 I had to sorten it but left it preloaded by inch and on half longer than spring chamber. I notice the webley handles light pellets with out them tumbling.
Oh my 135 Hatsan 22 cal is a wonderful gun...........

Nice to know,
I've had Turkish Webleys, not just Patriots, for a few years now and Hatsan (who make many of the spring powered Webley rifles nowadays) certainly are getting better but back a few years ago they could only be described as "sub-standard" as far as quality control went. The numbers fo failures and mechaincal faults showed this to be correct many times over.. I'd like to give the 135 a try out but it would only ever be in .22 or .25 calibre if I could find one. We only have the .177 model here - no thanks. It's bad enough power-wise with a Patriot in .177 calibre but a 135,, even more power. I'm not referring to the actual power output in ft-lbs at the muzzle, but more the life of the rifles innards firing a .177 cal pellet at those power levels - far too much for the .177 calibre. That's just my opinion of course..!!
But the original question still stands - are the barrels interchangable bewtween any two Hastan Webley Patriots..?? I want to change the barrels on the .177 and the .25 Hatsan Patriots so I wind up with a more powerful .25 Turk Patriot and a slightly lesser powerful .177 Turk Patriot, which is a far better proposition all-round for both of the calibres... I want to leave the English Patriot right out of the equation and only mentioned it for a power comparison. The Turkish Patriot I bought in .177 cal should be virtually brand spanking new and therefore as powerful as it could be, being new,, so it would suit the .25 calibre barrel a bit better than the .177 cal barrel it came with, hence the want to swap them over...

Walther/ Hatsan interchange in the 125/135. I have owned one Patriot and i would say yes they will inter change. The Turk models are the basic Hatsans. Could be wront but bet money they will swap out.

Well, I took the metal away from the timber on both air rifles and there are unfortunately some tiny differences between the two. I'd like to think they are update differences rather than new model design differences, because they are subtle but definite. Overall dimensions are the same in both. I was also considering swapping stocks over but they have different triggers and therefore slightly different indents cut into the trigger inletting for pins and safety catches in different places etc and one of the actions wont actually fit in to the others stock,, the other fits in but rocks or pivots on the timber somewhere. Although the barrels themselves appear to be exactly the same to the eye, the cocking arms are different and where the cocking arms go into the piston skirts on each, there are slight differences on the skirt, again only slight but definite. One of the two Patriots (the .25 cal model) also has "Powr-Lok tm inside WEBLEY PATRIOT" stamped on the cylinder while the other just has the standard "WEBLEY PATRIOT" on it. It appears one is an older or younger model than the other, depending on which side of the coin you like. The .25 cal Patriot has been greased internally. The spring has a bit of this grease on it, not too much but I'm not quite sure if I would have put that much on it myself, but I'm no expert, and, it IS a nice quiet rifle to fire, very pleasant indeed with virtually no spring noise,, it just goes "plop" when fired and has little felt recoil so who knows, maybe it is a good grease job afterall, just that it fires about 90 - 100fps slower than the English Patriot with 25gr pellets which equates to about 7 or 8 ft-lb less at the muzzle...
Oh well, it was worth finding out but I have to lay that idea to rest for the moment...

The loose could just be a piston seal issue. Even on the hatsans I usually had to even shim the breech seal. Spring could be the issue as well. Just shoot them for a while. You would like the 135.

You're both right,,
I could just swap springs, but I don't have a jig for that and I have a bad left shoulder, which I'd rather not put any strain on, but yes that's my best future option...
I will just shoot them as they are for a while. The spring in the .25 is very quiet indeed. It is a replacement and is greased and is very easy and quiet to cock and fire. I tried to cock the .177 and boy there is a lot of noise in there, almost like you can hear every coil going past a protruding surface, not graunchy but you could feel each coil being compressed through the barrel as you pulled on it. I looked in through the cocking arm channel and the spring looks in good condition (what I could see anyway) but it looks very dry in there...

Spring could just be overly tarred. I used too much &^^& on the spring in my WTM and it turned into a 22-24 fpe shooter. Then I cleaned it up real good and re-lubed with just a light coat of white lithium grease on the spring to prevent wear and it will reach 30 fpe with everything except buckshot-they only shoot in the ballpark of 27-28 fpe which is still very respectable. Yeah, it shoots with some buzz now, but I'm over it. It's accurate and powerful and that's what matters most, if I were shooting for the sweetest shot cycle in a budget gun I probably would have went with a stoeger X5 or something hehe
