More HPA options considered (help me spend money!)

Ok, now considering along with a Shoebox, a Great White tank, and a 62 CI 3000 psi tank fitted with a 2500 psi (fixed pressure, I choose the pressure) regulator  for tethering from JDS (http://jdsairman.com/TanksRegs.html)  The JDS tank would give me a lot of shots for bench shooting and at $130, pretty affordable as well.  Anyone have any experience with the JDS stuff?  I haven't calculated how many shots I should get at 2500 psi, but given that the 62 CI is roughly 5X the Marauder tank, I should get at least 5X (very conservative) the number of shots before needing to refill the JDS tank, so that's a nice session of shooting and a quick top up from the Great White.  Any thoughts on this arrangement?


Edit:  after looking at the JDS setup, it looks like I would also need a Discovery fill adapter to tether the gun from this setup, which puts it in the $200 range, whereas the Ninja Paintball setup with the Discovery adapter is only $100 more and I could have the option to fill it to 4500 psi.  The Ninja option is looking more attractive...

Please consider the 4500 psi stuff first.  Even a 30 min bottel is going to give you many more fills.  When you buy the shoebox, you have to decide which pressure system you want before hand.  If you order 3000 cut off and then realize it not worthy having to refill the bottel every 5 fills of the rifle, then your going to have to spend even more money to convert it to the 4500 psi cut off.  The 30 min bottles used with several years left on them go for $120 or so. That is with a few years left on hydro.  If you don't care about being in hydro cause you hae your own compressor, you can get a used Drager 60 min tank  for $50 that will give you 55 fills at 2800 psi if you shoot to 1800 psi before refilling. Now the down side of this is that the cga347 fill set ups aren't cheap. I bought the $80 version from PA and it is Horace and its going back and one from joe is in route.  I'm not sure how long shoebox takes to fill 3k bottel, but its not instant.  Just something to consider.  It seams like just about everyone with mrods converts to 4500 eventually, might as well save your self the trouble of buying your stuff twice.  If your going with the new shoebox that cost twice as much you can adjust the cutoff pressure and its not as big of a deal, but that is a much more expensive option and you have to have a bigger supply compressor to give it 120 psi instead of the 50 psi( I think, not sure) the $600 option requires.  Just something to consider.

Ok, you edited while I was responding.  The thing you have to consider about paintball tanks is that they are small.  They are rated in cubic inches and the scba tanks are rated in cubic feet.  Not sure exactly what the coversion is but I would think its somthing like 12.

If you truly need help spending money here's my suggestion. Buy me the shoebox with 4500 cut off and two of the Ninja set ups. Then buy yourself whatever you want.

I'm considering that combo as well.  Everything except for the "send it to you" part.     If Joe B. can hook me up with a good price on one of the kits I've asked him to quote, then maybe, I'll add a Ninja rig to give me a nice moderate shot count with a small tank tethering option...

This is what I ended up with after my brother in-law got a 4500 psi shoebox.

Can't tell you how many refills yet, but the estimator was saying like ~ 30.  I may still use a scuba 88 to do the bulk fill and the Scott to top off when under 3K.  I am thinking that could be ~140 or more.

Spending money is very easy in this Darksiders realm.

sperho.... That 62 CI tank would only have a usuable pressure range of 3000 down to 2500 if regulated to that pressure.... That means 500/14.5 = 34.5 bar x 62 = 2138 CI of usuable air at 1 bar.... If you are talking a .25 cal MRod shooting 45 FPE at an efficiency of 1.0 FPE/CI, that works out to 2138 / 45 = 48 shots.... I would think that is more like 3X the number of unregulated shots for an MRod tuned to that power level.... You would, however, have about a 1% ES instead of 3-4%.... 

Now if you were talking about the 90 CI / 4500 psi Ninja tank regulated to the same 2500 psi, you would have 90 x 2000 / 14.5  = 12,414 CI / 45 = 276 shots.... about 17X what an unregulated MRod would do....

Pulled the trigger (finally)...  Freedom 8 + Great White from Joe B + the new Ninja 90 CI tank with fill adapter regulated to 2900 psi (purchased locally - Mayhem Park, Kingsport, TN).  I hope Tom gets his needed parts for the F8 soon so production will be underway again soon!

I found an eBay seller with a bunch of 4500 PSI HPA tanks.  The ones with 2-3 years left on them start at just over $100.00  He also has valves.  I have one in the mail now.  If anyone wants his info, PM me.  He has 30 and 60 minute bottles, some HPA some low, so make sure you know what you are bidding on, you can msg the seller, he is timely in his responses.

I have a 12CF/90ci 4500 psi bottle and its a really nice setup. I built it myself this fall. I got the paintball bottle on sale for $115 and a JDairsman regulator for $90. I was all set. I also have a 3K bottle with JD reg on it and i only get 3 refills out of it. I end up using the Carbon Fiber tank most of the time. I'll take the second bottle if we go target practicing. It's just nice to see Ninja coming to the rescue with some decent priced bottles.

Input side of manual pumps are designed for atmospheric pressure to be drawn in on the upstroke. Boosting the input side may prove a disaster to your feet or surrounding areas if a portion of the pump blows apart from having pressure where it was never designed to be.
