Not to mention that a new tank once properly kept should last 15yrs, as opposed to a used one with 3-5 yrs life left. After that you have to either buy a shoebox or a new tank or beg whoever fills for you for a few more fills till you can get a new one. The initial costs are high, but 15 yrs is a looooong time.

In my position. It makes sense to buy a short term bottle. I had been shooting a springer but my back just can't take it for long. I wanted to keep shooting so I bought a BT65 and associated stuff. The biggest savings in all my gear is the SCBA bottle. Buying one with 3 years left on it instead of new, saved me enough to buy all of the rest of the equipment I needed and not break the bank.

I just bought a tank from AOA, should be here in time for my b/day(more likely the day after though) if only because I don't want to look for another one in a hurry. The wife nearly had my head on a stick when I told her how much it cost considering the 6.5 to 1 conversion. I'm thinking if I start to save up from now, in about 2-3 years I can afford a shoebox to go with it.
That is, if the missus doesn't have me committed to a psych ward when I tell her
