...so it isn't backyard friendly, unless your neighbors don't mind a report approaching the level of a. 22 rimfire.

Okay, kidding aside, you really should get the long steel breech from Crosman so you can mount a reasonable sight, whether an optic, peep or whatever.  The rear sight that come on the stock breech is okay but difficult to really zero and, as far as I know, can't mounted on the steel breech.  The long steel breech gives you a much more solid mounting of the barrel, which helps accuracy, and gives you lots of options for sights.

Yes, it is going to be loud unless you get an LDC.

Everything else is bling or not really necessary (but a longer Lothar Walther barrel and some classy grips can improve your accuracy and the feel of the gun).  Of course, there is absolutely nothing wrong with bling!!

1: Crosman Custom shop.
2: Deal with the noise via whatever mod you want to utilize.  Note - the best of all is a shroud, but that requires a much bigger investment and a few custom parts.

My stock 2240 shoots great! I just tweeked the sights and was hitting the spinners at 24 yds.

Yes it is almost as loud as a rimfire, that's only an issue if you have neighbors and they mind. I average around 35 good shots on a co2 cart and another 5 lack luster shots before I feel like I'm wasting pellets. Order plenty of co2 and pellets because it is so easy to shoot that you will go through them like crazy.

For the price I think that the 2240 is one of the better values out there for the backyard airgunner. That said, it wasn't long before I wanted to start adding goodies like a shoulder stock, scope, longer barrel, ect. Instead of doing mods to my 2240 I am instead looking at the 2400kt from the Crosman custom shop. The 2400kt like it's cousin the 2240 is an excellent value that's hard to beat. If you think that you will be adding goodies to your 2240 I would highly suggest that you look at the Crosman custom shop before buying.

If you just want a fun pistol that shoots great right out of the package then you could do worse than picking up 2240. I have a ton of fun with mine and it is a welcome break from all of my multi-pump guns that wear out my arms after an hour of shooting. Get one, you'll like it!

Both of you need to order a 2400kt and quit messin around. Lol. And just think, the wait time gives you enough time to make up an excellent excuse to your other half on why you needed another airgun... Mine still doesn't know yet. I'm hoping I can just sneek it into my collection but there is a slim chance of that happening. Kraaash, I'm sure you will be happy with either one you choose.

Really needing a 22 caliber CO2 pellet pistol?  Or really needing a CO2 pistol for general target plinking?  If you go the custom shop route, you'll get considerably more mileage per cartridge (and per pellet tin!) if you choose 177.  I get 50-60 shots out of my 2300T (essentially same pistol as custom shop offering) per cartridge.
