Just tried to sight in my new Mrod .25 and...are you kidding me?!?!?

This is ridiculous! This gun is just stupid accurate. I did an indoor 30 foot initial sight in then took it outside and set the pellet trap up at 35 yards and the first shot...Oops! nailed the clip that holds the target and mangled it and the part of the trap it attaches to. Then two more adjusting the scope each time and then the next five...gracious!! I cannot believe how accurate this gun is...



Just to see if it was a fluke, here are another five shots at 35 yards. This was in 15 mph wind as well.



Holy crud! I am seriously not that good but this gun has now ruined me for any other. Now I have got to get something other than the hand pump that came with my disco. It is not fun doing that much pumping for two clips full, but oh what a gun this Marauder is. This was with Benjamin domes 27.8 gr and the gun just as it came out of the box. I love this gun!

Exactly, I had a crummy day today and came home and took the gun out and did this and I just walked around the back yard with this stupid grin on my face. This gun is a great stress reliever. Now I just need to find someplace in the Raleigh area to fill tanks. I want to get a 97 cu ft 4500 tank but have no idea where in Johnston county I can get it filled. I also took a shot at a starling at about 75 yards and overshot it. I need to learn how to use those mil-dots now. I'm completely new to scope use.

I know what you mean.  Wait till you try 50, 75 and 100yards.  You will even smile more !!

Try two 80 cf tanks at 3300 psi, normal fill.  Use one to fill and the other to top off.  When the fill tank goes below 2500 have it "topped off" to 3300 and rotate the two tanks.  My scuba shop does not even charge me for the top off from 2500 to 3300.  Just pay them for VIP once a year and take out a couple of rats in their shop for them every once in a while...

The only thing I am not prepared for is scope mounts.  My UTG/Leapers came with Weaver mounts and I bought a 1 piece in anticipation of another gun.  Guess a quick trip to Wal-Mart will fix that. 

I never recovered from "The Dark Side" after shooting and hunting A LOT with my old Daisy 880.  It was stupid accurate too, something I never found in a springer.  The closest I came was the Hatsan 125 Sniper, that gun was pretty accurate for a springer.

download chairgun, put in your numbers, print out the scope cover reference. that way you don't have to guess which mil dot to use, it will be right ther in front of you.

Jason, I'm sure you'll love it. My walmart didn't have any mounts for me but I had some left over high mount dovetail mounts to use. I had not noticed that the scope I ordered used weaver mounts either. If your scope is a 40mm you can use medium. Any larger than that use high mounts. Mine is 40 but I only had high mounts but they seem to be working OK.

I'll post some pics at some point, but it is just stone stock atm. I did buy a bipod for the front but I may only mount that occasionally since the gun is very very heavy as it is.

I actually found some at my Wally world today.  They are 1" see-thru mount, 4 steel straps, 3/8 receiver, fits up to 50mm obj.

Working great so far.  Yea, this is a very nice gun.  VERY quick to shoot 24 pellets and use up all your hard pumping effort lol.

heres the scary part chiro   when ballanced and sometimes modded it can become more accurate  bt its an out of the box shooter for sure   congrats and enjoy

Chiro, congrats on the new .25.  They are impressive to say the least.  As for the use of your scope and mil-dots I have some info that may be helpful.  Fist off, Mil-Dots were originally designed to work at 10X.  Some manufacturers have made their scopes to read the Mil-dot scale at the highest power.  You need to find out at what power your scope is calibrated to.  At that power is where you will do all of your range finding.  If you are planning to use the Mil-dots to holdover, you'll need to make a cheat sheet or remember how to scale the dots to the magnification setting.  Some scopes come with instructions for this (BSA).  ChairGun is a very nice tool for establishing a known trajectory and learning your hold over.  I'll try and give you the run down on the Mil-dot system and it's use in range finding.  This is a very handy tool and can be abridged on to a cheat sheet or placed inside you lens cover. 

A Mil is the distance between dots measure center to center.  The dot it self is 1/4 Mil top to bottom.  The more accurate you are at measuring the Mils against the target at distance. the more accurate your range estimation will be.  There is a little math involved but it can be rendered into a simple comparison for quick reference.  You will have to have a good idea as to how tall or wide a target is.  This has to be known in meters or yrds, which ever you what to range in.   If you are shooting from a fixed position I would know the hieght of common things in that area.  The distance across the octagon of a stop sign, height of a transformer, average height of the game you intend on shooting. Now, how this works.  Take the height or width of the target and multiply it by 1000.  Divide that product by the Mils measured against the target or reference point.  This is your range to target.  As I stated above, Accurate reading of the Mils are imperative to accurate ranging of a target.  Airguns are far less forgiving than Hi power powder burners.  If you get this down with an airgun and can make consistent hit at 80-100 yrds, You'll never miss a dear within 600yrds again unless it is moving or the wind is brutal.    Here is an example;  starling is approx 5" tall from foot to head.  That is .139 yrds.  .139 X 1000= 139.  If you mils read 2-1/4 when over laid on the target, you divide 139 by 2-1/4.  Range to target is approx 62yrds.   From my experience with the .25 Marauder, that is a head shot.  I've taught my 11yr old to do this and he gets better all the time.  Another piece of advice that I'd offer is, set you zero at a distance that with give you a pointblank range that stays inside a 1" target area.  This means that your pellet will not rise more than 1/2in above your line of sight nor will it drop more than 1/2in below your line of sight.  JSB's at 900fps, zeroed at 30yrds are typically 13-40yrds of point blank range.   That is dependent upon your scope height.

excellent information bill    lol knew math would be beneficial at some point     they are nice printers for sure very consistent      i have a 35  ive heard of 22 that shot well and some that were either picky or wouldnt shoot   which i found odd     i can vouch for the 25 for sure
