Paint Stripper om Benji Stock

I have a XL NP with a wood stock. I'm trying to strip the factory fake wood finish off of it but having no success. I tried using the heavy duty "aircraft paint stripper" but that won't budge it!! Whats up with this stuff? I even tried to scuff the finish with 180 grit sand paper first to open it up so the stripper might go to work easier, but that didn't work either. I work in the industrial refinishing world and like to think I know somewhat about this, but this is rediculous! Any ideas?? Thanks

I don't know what chemical/product you could use but you could just sand it all off.  Start with like, 80 or 100 grit and work your way up from there.

did you apply it in heavy coats? i mean heavy and let it set 10 minutes and try to remove the finish. if that dont work go to an automotive paint stoer and see if they have any additive to help it work. if air gets between the stripper and the old finish it wont work right . was told this from an auto body shop man and he was right so i discovered

I used citristrip on my mrod stock. Lay it on thick and repeat a few times. Let it dry overnight then give it a good sanding.

I made the mistake of thinking the stock was nice and clean until I started staining. Light spots stood out instantly where the stain wasnt penetrating the remnants of the factory finish.

It takes quite a bit of elbow grease but it's worth the effort.

  I had good results with Jasco Paint and Epoxy Remover from Home Depot or Lowes.  Used a Scotch Brite pad soaked in Mineral Spirits to remove the softened finish, then sanded the stock.  It will burn the skin if you dont have on the right kind of gloves.

Jasco works well, citri strip not so much. These are just my experience, not gospel, take them as you will.
