The BEAST has arrived !!!
«

The Hatsan 135 25 cal is a lot bigger than what I expected but she is still a very pretty beast. The wood is nicely figured . The pictures here. don't do justice. I cleaned the barrel out with googone and the patches came out black. I fired off four rounds and it quit smoking after 3 shots. I am not sure what scope I will be placing on this gun Yet. I placed a pop can filled with water at 20 yds away and blew it wide open. She does hit hard and is a challenge for a 73 year old guy to cock.{ Good thing I work out at Gold Gym}

George,
That is a sweet looking beast you have there. How would you compare it to your R1, weight, cocking force, recoil? Maybe too early for accuracy or hold, but I'll ask.
thanks

John the 135 definitely weighs more,is longer , heavier to cock and has more recoil than my R-1.and no way as smooth. MY R-1 is a 0ne hole shooter at 20yds also. It remains to be seen how accurate the 135 will be when it is broken in.

Dan were you able to use the hammer mounts on the 135 that came with the scope? I used a 3x9 x36 hammars scope with the mounts earlier that I had mounted on a Win-1000 that held up very well.

Wow, George! That's a beautiful beast indeed!
Funny how we call our rifles "she", we always say she this and she that but whenever I take my .25 caliber beast out it's definitely male.
The cocking effort should ease a bit for you as "she" breaks in.
I'm not surprised that it was a lot bigger than you expected, those rifles are indeed mammoth-sized.
Congrats!
Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures with her.

I could be stating the obvious but everytime I see the model 135, it just pure reminds me of the Webley Dominator or Hatsan 155 Torpedo without the underlever...
Don't you think..??

iT SURE DOES LOOK like IT!! I wonder if the Torpedo is easier to cock than the 135? Does the Torpedo share the same power plant as the the 125 sniper.

They are, or at least were both rated as a 1250fps (.177) rifle and when they were a new thing, they were the same,, used the same springs and seals etc but that was a few years back now. Many of Hatsans internal parts were completely interchangeable and may still could well be, in certain models...
I can tell you from experience that the Torpedo (I have the Webley Dominator which IS the same as a 155 Torpedo) and they require quite a bit of force to cock. That cocking lever is quite a small piece and the leverage may play against you, so bulk up if you feel the need to own one, although after a while you get used to any amount of force needed to cock any air rifle. You also think twice about which rifle to take with you, hahahaha. For a guy like me - not too tall - I regard these ultra type springers as specialist rifles and would only use them if/when required,, hence mine don't get used that often, unlike some of the lesser powered rifles I have...

Kinda takes the fun out of shooting the gun when they are require a lot of force to cock. But sure is a nice looking gun.

Chuckle - Funny how I was thinking the exact same reply,, just as long as it is aimed at somebody else... My Dominator requires quite a bit of force but it isn't anything I can't handle, just as long as I don't have to handle it too many times in a session. If it had a longer cocking arm things would be oh so easier but it would look stupid. At least with the break barrel you get plenty of good usable leverage...

The cocking is getting a little easier now as I have shot maybe 75 rounds through her. My left arm is getting stronger Ha!! But shooting this beast is still fun. I don't want to shoot up all my supply of JSB Exact Kings other wise I would be putting more rounds through The Beast. I have 8 cans of Benjamin domes coming in this week that I will use to break her in.I am saving my Exact kings for my 25-Mrod which loves them.

And let there be lead (in the air)...
Enjoy the new rifle,, why not..?? Airgunning is addictive and it's one drug that you can enjoy to the max everyday without doing anyone else any harm or bother. Just let the first pellet hit the ground before you fire the next one... Hahahaha...
Sounds like you are really getting into it. Good on ya...
