What scope for the QB 78 s im getting

looking for a couple of scopes for these rifles when they come in going to get some 3/8 rings probably mediumn height. i plan on shooting no further then 25 yards mainly at cans my spinner and paper i was thinking something 4X40 with AO what do you all think? may possible hunt frogs and stuff small birds not sure if im gonna have enough power for coons any advice is welcome

Honestly, any Scope will work. WW cheapos too. Does not need to be springer rated at all.

The adjustable objective certainly helps relieve eyeball stress at closer ranges.  Even the $35 50mm Tasco scope at Wal-Mart will work fine, but if you try to focus on something only 25 yards away you'll be a bit stressed to get a clear image.

Personally, I have become really fond of the Centerpoint 3-9X40 piece at Wal-Mart.  Hard to beat for <$70.

I wouldn't get the Tech Force scope.  You can get the same scope from Academy under the "Winchester" brand for <$35.

I'm going to get a QB79 and set it up for HPA...I'll probably give the cheapo Tasco a try for grins haha.

Really the only complaints I have are when I'm shooting at 20 yards...a little fuzzy...and the fact that there's no shade on it.  That big lens can catch a lot of glare during broad daylight but it is absolutely fantastic in low light situations.  My Beeman RS2 completely destroyed it in about 30 shots, though haha.  Wouldn't have any issues with HPA.

I was going to order a QB 79 yesterday but went with a MM  tuned QB 78 22 cal as i have a QB 78 177 coming this week  i just couldnt find any tanks under 2 inches in diameter  and i thought that it would weigh the gun down having a 90z tank so im looking at smaller capacity tanks its only 2.50 to fill a 90z tank at academy

That's the ideal one.  A 9oz aluminum bottle won't really add much weight at all.  If I recall the numbers right, the 79 with a bottle weighs less than a 78.

will that tank hold co2? i looked at walmart and academy alls they had was 12 oz and up. im not real fond of ordering online but guess i need to start doing that

I believe that it does eitehr Co2 or HPA but I'll wait for a more knowledgeable person to chime in on it.

thanks bro i appreciate it you got me heading in the right direction most tanks i see are over 2 inches in diameter is there an adapter that will allow it to not touch the barrel

I just recently (after 6mo of waiting) was able to get my 9oz tank filled for my QB79. I had been using an 88gram AirSource adapter and tank to shoot in the mean time. I was really surprised at the weight when swapping to the 9oz. Using a cheap home scale my 79 w/ 9oz tank (only 8oz full probably) w/ the UTG 3-9x40 weighs in at 8.8lbs No clue what it was with the AS tank tho. I think it wasn't so much the change in weight, but maybe it threw off the balance a bit.

The scope is a UTG 3-9x40 w/ R/G IR. I love it, but I would say now that it is a bit of an overkill... I've only once had a reason to use the IR and it is quite large and adds a lot of weight. I'd go with something with a nice crisp picture and AO but like they said, it doesn't even need to be AG rated...

No pics with the 9oz yet, and I've since swapped to a lower profile 1-piece mount. The qb78's probably going to be next in the line up!

I recently purchased the same scope to use on a springer, and for the money, it's thoroughly impressive, with excellent brightness, and crystal clear optics.  It's better than some much more popular scopes I use.  You can't go wrong. RC

For $69 the Center Point mildot w/ IR at Walmart is hard to beat.  I liked the cheaper model of that scope on my Trail NP and the Walmart one is even better.

Also, I've picked up 4X 9 oz tanks so far.  2 of them are aluminum and will touch the barrel without the adapter.  The other 2 are steel tanks and are smaller in diameter and will fit without the adapter.  My guess would be the aluminum tanks have to follow some kind of ASTM ordinance and therefore have to be thicker walled pushing them over the 2" OD.

That is the one I have waiting on my 79. ~2 more days! I got it from that vendor also. I called and they answered the phone and measured the tank. I do not think it is for CO2 though.

Thanks OP for asking this question I need a scope and my use will be much the same as yours. 25 yards or less.

are you all using the 3/8 rings or 11 mm with the centerpoints? it came with 7/8 in weaver so i went and bought some B square mediums hoping they will work and some redfield 3/8 dovetails hoping they will work i should have just ordered some 11mm online and been done with it but i hate ordering online i have had bad luck because of my adress
